I don't know but I do think that is crazy money - but then, is it worse than Noah?
I'd rather invest in NBDL type guys, and hope one of them develops into a role player/starter.

I just look at it like this - Monopoly Money.
The new TV deal gets so much more money in. There are so many players to share in that. So, it gets spread out.
They could lower ticket prices or the like, but no, let's make the rich richer.
It's a good deal if you consider the cap floor... you have to pay everyone the mac because the players get a 30% increase in salary due to the rise in cap. It's a fantastic deal. At least that's what a little bird told me

My goodness. I agree. How could we trade the MJ of centers for a nobody in this league?
Does that generic "I hate whatever the Knicks do" argument give any sort of pleasure? Because, wow, last year people thought we overpaid for a role player in Robin. Then the season ends and he is nice but won't get us anywhere. Now you move him for a former MVP on a contract year and every player we traded reached sainthood.
Forward planning is trading for a star PG in a contract year who can either take your team to a whole new level with his play or simply expire and let you participate on the 2017 FA extravaganza. GM learning on the job who actually is a basketball mastermind with a plan in place and who has already put us in a way better position than we were before we arrived. Oh, but yeah, fans know more about the league and the markets better than the guys actually running the show.

Noah is just bottom line a much better player. Anyone can get hurt at any given time. Noah, while more susceptible to injury, does nearly everything better than Mozgov, and his leadership adds to his value on and off the court. Mozgov was most teams plan B to a guy like Noah, and they will be getting paid almost the same amount. Mozgov is steady, a poor man's Lopez, but nothing more.

Former is past tense. Dont know if you've been watching any Bull bb but Rose has been nothing more than a former name with a average game. Chicagoans liked the roots but not his play and overwhelming majority saw the merits despite the emos. Nice to promote style but substance is what wins games. Fandom results in delusions when emotions run amok. A frontline of Rolo, KP and Melo was a trio that was a stronger and cheaper base to supplement than Melo, KP and Rose when you talk about getting to a higher level . This idea that we can simply let Rose and his $21 walk to sign a fa in 17 is rather simplistic and naive to market forces. You dont ship a well priced and productive asset away so flippantly. The only way Jax salvages this is to sign Noah to a contract that isnt ludicrous.

I agree! Mozgov getting that contract is much riskier by Lakers. You don't think the Lakers would give Noah 4 yrs and 75 million in a heartbeat? Of course they would and so would other teams but Noah wants to play for the knicks as long as they give him contract he's happy with

You do realize that the market available was for big men. No option to improve our starting PG this offseason vs. improving our frontline with the available big men. You also realize that Rose, while indeed no longer an MVP, is still much more than the "average player" you promote. That is funny considering Robin was promoted as an "average center" when he was signed to the "overpay" some shouted last season.
The 2017 plan might indeed sound simplistic because you are looking at it like that. Truth is, the Knicks DO want to see if Rose is indeed trending back up after his injuries, because they know a healthy Rose, even past his MVP years, is still miles better than most options out there at PG. That is why they are moving to get Noah and an SG: to compete this year and give themselves options moving forward.
Imagine what kind of money Mosgov might have commanded if he had played more than 75 MINUTES IN THE ENTIRE CAVS' PLAYOFF RUN.
Have to figure that Luke Walton remembered what Mosgov did last year in the finals, because he only played 25 minutes in the 2016 finals, and half of that was in the second game blowout.
I'm also not sure of Timmy's legs at this point- it will be interesting to see how he holds up.
I thought we might try to get him, but we are clearly trying to create a team based on friendship and familiarity, and Rose, not Melo, seems to be the focal point.

while I think this deal is absurd I think the reason Moz didn't play was because Lue was playing a smaller brand of basketball than last year. Thompson, Love, and Frye were simply ahead of Moz
