NBA is officially a joke. I don't want to hear about where the money guys to the players or the owners. But to give a guy that has never made an All Star team $24MM a year is insane. Not to mention he has been injured in his career.

We should just wait and fill out the team with marginal role players after we lock Noah in. These contracts will all look stupid soon enough.

Lopez and AA look like genius deals right now. Too bad we didn't lock Derek Williams in for more years.

CrushAlot @ 7/1/2016 9:22 AM
Melo money for Batum. Lin and Lee are probably not going back.
NYY1NYK2 @ 7/1/2016 11:05 AM
Wow, THIS IS GUARANTEEING A LOCKOUT IN A FEW YRS

These contracts look beyond rediculous.

Mozgov 18M per? not an allstar, didnt contribute in playoffs, atleast biyombo played himself into a salary bump.

Batum: 24M, hes not even a top 10 player at his position
Better than batum in no particular order
Melo,Durant,Kawhi,Lebron,,George,Gay,Barnes,Greekfreak,Gallinari,Parsons

isn't this what nba fans say every FA period?

guess what, cap goes up even more next summer. players will get paid. what this comes down to is how a gm builds a team. these contracts are inconsequential.

the bigger issue is what happens when the nba/espn/abc deal expires. will the future of cord-cutting effect dollar numbers?

I agree. Cap goes up. Player salaries goes up. There are only 15 slots per team so everybody gets a pay raise.

Yeah, I don't get this. The cap went up because the league just made bank with the latest TV deal.

I think that the thing which annoys me is that a player will get money based on the cap, the "market" that is created, and in some instances- shear luck.

It would seem that talent and success as a player are part of the equation, but not necessarily the biggest part.

Steph Curry will be making $12M next year!

What if you sign a 5 yr deal before a cap boom, and then at the end of your contract the cap has regressed a bit?

I just have an issue with cap expansion/market trumping player achievement/ability as the defining factor in determining value.

Need more franchises.....more teams... More money than players.

and then you water down the play. Adam Silver got some thinking to do.

The NBA is an super-exclusive club. Just getting your foot in the door means you're one of a few hundred elite players in what's a global game.

The stars currently under contract will get theirs again soon enough.

The cap isn't going down anytime soon. The TV money is new and long term.

Attendance and merchandising revenue will have to crater, not just go down... crash... for the cap to fall below $110m after it gets there next season anytime soon.
