Knicks · Woj: Actually, Eric Gordon is the Knicks' top backcourt target now (page 2)

I agree. Hornacek said he wants a top ten defense. Lee is a good fit.

Yes. Lee is the lesser of 2 evils basically. A 3 and D shooting guard who in years past probably a 5 mill a year type guy, but it is what it is.

If we're going to pay for mediocre, I'd rather have Lee. Plus he's at least 2 inches taller and longer than Gordon!

Can't have your shooting guard shorter than your point guard.

Yeah....who's available that doesn't suck?

Honestly, this whole 2016 free agency class sucks balls except for the very top. Rather piecemeal this year with cheap flexible contract scraps like Randy Foye or Gerald Henderson or Gerald Green and players of this caliber than get stuck with "name" players like Noah and Gordon who will both be in a 3 piece suit half the time for multiple years.

Should've had eyes down the road for 2017 instead of this suck ass class.

ChuckBuck, no sports teams you follow is EVER going to favor exactly the same players you do or execute the exact moves you want them to.

You're always going to be angry, dissatisfied guy, no matter what.

It's why you'r here.

Welpee @ 7/1/2016 12:34 PM
Most of the top free agents seem to resign with their current team (the system is designed to encourage that). Most of the top free agents who signed with other teams haven't seriously considered the Knicks other than STAT who we probably couldn't have signed if it weren't for his injury history and Phoenix not wanting to go long term with him. Melo is the only player approaching free agency who seemed to seriously want to come here. Given this, how do you pin your future on signing big time free agents whether it's this year or next year?

Gordon has a 6'10 wingspan.

Do you like anyone? Seems like you will never be happy unless we go tank and rebuild with a bunch of rookies.

Yes. I like Russell Westbrook, Greek Freak, and Gordon Hayward and whatever stud from Kentucky, Duke, or Kansas we could've landed if we piecemealed this year.

Doesn't look like Phil's going in that direction.

I would bet that you would be the 1st one bytching about how bad the Knicks are and what is Phil doing with no plan after 3 years!!! Hoping on the draft year after year is not really a plan. If it comes naturally and you have your picks GREAT, but Phil didn't have all of his picks. You can't just NOT TRY to win. NYK fans are so full of crap cuz when we don't do anything people complain. This team is getting better with these moves even with the risk of injury. IMO this team will win games and possibly go on a deep playoff run.

Kinda respect that perspective more if there was consistency of thought. I really liked the addition of Lopez last year and I do recall you doing so as well. You rightfully lauded him for all the things he brought, the interior D, rebounding, screening, toughness yet now you tend to downplay those same important contributions despite his greater than expected year. You do so in support the Rose trade. Fortunately for Knicks ,Noah fills that void albeit at a higher price . I also recall you talking about the need to let "the process" play itself out without any rush, do you not remember explaining the spirituality of 'triangle culture" where roster continuity was needed? Now vets in, vets out and heavy turnover is ok. Change isnt bad but it should be selective rather than wholesale when talking about a process Anyway, ya kinda lost me after a early winning streak last year when you started to talk about similarities between last year and the season when we won 54 games. Nah, you didnt say that we would win 54 but you liked the team and where it was headed. Now, its Ok to be a fan who views everything optimistically in the moment but please dont trash every poster who critiques as idiots or haters. If ChuckBuck would have like to maintain the core and forgo these moves to chase younger and higher quality players this or next year then that's his debatable perspective

Look at the 2017 list of SGs. Who are you holding out for? There's no one realistic. This is the year to get a SG. Getting a cheap SG this year is not a good course of action.

Rose and Gordon were aau teammates and formed one of the greatest backcourts in aau history . So the players coming in already have chemistry

Rose might be emerging as the shadow GM of the Knicks. If everyone stays healthy...we are in great shape, if not, hold onto those #1s.

If we were to pick up Gordon I would also think this means Rose will get another contract from the Knicks after next season.

Yeh. I was thinking that a Noah sign likely ensures a Rose resign given their relationship barring a total collapse which I dont anticipate. Gordon would reinforce . I would have much rather kept the existing core and supplemented elsewhere if possible and then aim higher for Westbrook who is a superior player understanding that our chances were questionable. He appears to want the big stage and I think NY and the fashion industry would have appeal. Better team ? Should be but think it could have constructed in ways that would have positioned us better now and later

Who said anything about SGs? We're going to be on the market for a point guard, Rose is a 1 year rental. We can at worst make a push for Melo's buddy CP3 or Kyle Lowry, at best Westbrook if he wants to open a Nike wierdo boutique on Madison Ave.

There are several 2s and 3s to be had in the loaded 2017 draft class.

You'll be picking in the bottom half of the draft instead of the lottery 1-14. If you're okay with just another benchwarmer rookie, hey each fan is different!

Also huge difference in landing just 1 max versus 2 max superstars. Knicks could've done that, but hey YAY NOAH AND GORDON!!!

Comes down to roster compatibility and fitting the cap.

At this moment the Knicks should be a location where players believe they can be part of a playoff run. This seems to be especially so for a decent SG.

Do you think James might have looked at the Knicks a little differently when he first left the Cavs if he knew he could play within the roster framework we now have?

Just wondering...

There are triple the teams who have failed miserably at tanking. We got our franchise player in the draft. Sitting around waiting for lightning to strike twice is a failure waiting to happen. Porzingis needs to learn from vets and make the playoffs as quickly as possible to maximize his development. Putting him in a losing situation year after year until we get lucky is a recipe for disaster, i'm sorry.
