Knicks · We should really stand put right now and wait it out (page 1)

The FA "after market" will be rich. The $12mm ish we have to spend could get us two very good player. There will be some good opportunity because teams are spending themselves right out of it.

If we wait I could see us being able to add Barbosa and Caron Butler with that remaining money, then we resign Lance, LG and Seraphin.

Note: Barbosa and Caron Butler are just names out of a hat. Maybe Ray Session or David West... my point there will be real quality and depth at the end of this FA class. I think the Knicks have EXACTLY the kind of situation that will attract these players. They will be on a winning team, playing in NY, MSG will be buzzing every night and they can just go out and PLAY. God as an older player did I relish those situations!

Looking at the remaining FA list I hope Lee doesnt take our (proposed) offer, because we can really crush it in this aftermarket.

Flesh this roster out with old guys who know how to WIN.
Invest in KP, Willy, Roberts, see if Holiday is a late bloomer. Continue to grow organically.
See 54 win season. This roster can be much better. MUCH

I agree with this. We need a backup PG badly, too.

I just dropped a bunch of free agent shooting guards in another thread....

You are right, as soon as the league is done over spending, the Knicks will all have a large crop of players to chide from

Only problem is the teams like the Sixers haven't signed anyone yet and still have $50m in cap room.

I think the Lakers still have $30m left after signing Deng and Mozzy.

But no one seems to want to play with those two clubs, so we're good.

I was just getting ready to post this same thing. We need to get a legit backup point guard and we need that badly and no i don't want L.Galloway to be that guy. I'm not sure Austin Rivers is that guy but he's the only point guard i've even heard the Knicks linked to at all so far. He did play much better when he got to the Clippers but that could be because there's not as much pressure playing behind C.Paul and playing on daddy's team.

A lot of teams still have a ton of money left. The Nets and Dallas both have a bunch and plenty of other teams do as well especially the lower market teams.

I would have loved this before we signed Noah. Just pick up really solid players with youth and health vs. going all in.

Now, go all in. Heck, get D Wade - that would actually be awesome. And a great hedge because you have a good chance of having at least 3 of our stars playing every game during much of the year.

Given that we have already shot ourselves in the foot with the Noah trade, I would agree with this

Outside of maybe Dallas, it'll be a choice between competing and getting a big payday.

95% of NBA players will take the latter.

The idea that fringe NBA players are looking for playoffs rather than PT and paychecks is a non-starter.
