Knicks · 2011 Bulls vs 2016 Knicks (page 1)

20011 Bulls Starting 5:

Boozer 17pt
Deng 17pt
Noah 11pt
Rose 25pt
Bogan 4pt

They won 62 games that year.

The Knicks have:

KP. 14pt (last year)
Melo. 21pt
Noah. 4pt
Rose. 16pt
Courtney 9pt

I'm thinking Noah's points should double. The rest of the guys should all duplicate last year's point totals. Points aren't everything. Just using that as the starting point to compare.

Paris907 @ 7/3/2016 11:02 PM
KP should average 17 plus.
Rose 17 plus if he picks up where he left off
Melo is 32 and 20ppg
Courtney 10ppg as he will benefit from up tempo Horny style
Noah 9.5
mreinman @ 7/3/2016 11:10 PM
if he could only turn back the clock and have those versions.
franco12 @ 7/3/2016 11:13 PM
they're only five years older, what could possibly go wrong.
franco12 @ 7/3/2016 11:15 PM
On paper, that doesn't look bad. I worry that we rolling the dice with players, and we have no depth.

Who are we filling the roster with? Lance Thomas, Langston Galloway & a bunch of undrafted players?

StarksEwing1 @ 7/3/2016 11:32 PM
Lets temper expectations. 5 years is a long time. Rose and Noah both have had major injury issues since then. I liked the courtney lee signing. Im VERY excited about KP. however im also worried about our lack of depth especially with having injury prone guys like rose and noah
nixluva @ 7/4/2016 12:17 AM
This team should have decent enough depth if they can solve the backup PG spot without having to lose out on Gallo, Lance or DWill. It's gonna be tough but there's still a chance Phil can make this work.

Hornacek says he plans on a rotation that will always have one or two of the top 3 on the floor. Thus the bench won't be a platoon style. I fully agree with this approach. A quality 9-10 man rotation should be possible this way.

EnySpree @ 7/4/2016 2:24 AM
Depth is an issue now because we only have 7 players signed.... chances are we will sign 8 more people because we have to keep a 15 man roster. Why assume we will only sign undrafted rookies? Don't be ignorant. We have a whole off season to sign guys. Eventually the market will run dry and we'll have our share of vets that will sign for the nba minimum.

Im not sure if this post is a serious. Noah's pts to double??? Joakim, Deng and Boozer were all in prime, Rose was pre injury MVP. Bogans started but played like 10 mins. They had Brewer, Gibson, Korver, Thomas, Asik and others coming off bench

tj23 @ 7/4/2016 12:42 PM
I think it really comes down to defense. Rose is still explosive, Lee moves without the ball and can shoot, Noah is still a great passer. Melo will always be able to score, and KP is potentially a big variable. That Chicago team was full of pitbulls. I don't know if JH will bring that mentality but I think he's a great strategist and very creative so I expect he will put his players in the best position to succeed and adapt when necessary, which is something we haven't really had in a coach in a very long time.

My bad about questioning Noah doubling avg? Thought it was based on 2011 avg not his paltry 4 a game of 15'. Could see him getting close to doing that. All numbers cited seem doable though think Rose doubling assist totals would be more helpful in acheiving

Thibodeau focus was all defense all the time on every possession from everyone. Noah is self motivated but dont expect the constant intensity from all on that end during the regular season because the coaching emphasis on D is not the total focus. That is not a bad thing since there was also burnout and this team has some age and perhaps a slim bench. Rose has quickness more than explosive these days he'll get into paint but has had a hard time converting. KP was right to talk about opportunities on follows

Not sure if this response is serious... You don't think Noah would get 8 pts per game since he will be starting again?

Where is Ronnie Brewer today? Kurt Thomas? Bogans? All retired but were bottom role players. Asik? Korver? Gibson? All had their time but all are either buried on the bench or available in FA.

We can't find a Asik? We can't find a Brewer? We can't find a Kurt Thomas? We can sign Bogan right now.... we could sign Korver right now.

We're probably going to resign Lance Thomas. We might resign Galloway. We already have Justin Holiday. We eventually will sign a nice backup pg, especially if we move O'Quinn. Hermangomez is coming this year. Ron Baker is here. We will get some vet minimum guys.

Rose doesn't have to be mvp Rose... Melo doesn't have to be super chucker Melo. We have KP developing. Why chose to be a negative Nancy. We can win.... don't jump on the wagon when we do.

Let this NYK team get to 42 wins first before thinking about 62 lest 52. The only sure blip up imo is a healthy Rose over Calderon and a year older KP. The rest remains to be seen. Get Westbrook and my optimism and win count rises

This team should be able to get up to the high 40's or low 50's in wins. Hornacek got to 48 in the west with his PHX team. This should be a little better team than that one.
