Makes Westbrook more of a possibility next year...no?

I have a feeling that Westbrook already told him that he wasn't fully set on coming back after next year for KD to make this choice.

Good point. I gotta real hunch we will see Westbrook in the bright lights of NY.

Anyway we can trade for Westbrook by the deadline and not have to wait til the summer of 2017?

sell out? The dude wants to win so i have no issue. As a knick fan i would have loved him here but there was no chance in hell he would win here

Has to do with being a "man."

It's Durant saying that "I'm not good enough to beat you, so I'm going to join you."

Gutless, IMO.

not gutless. Lets be honest If he joined the knicks You would be praising him because its your team

Yes on both counts. A weak move by KD joining a 73 win team. Pussy. Would have earned more respect if he taken on the challenge of returning to OKC or embarking with NYK, Celts, Washington etc. Think Westbrook will seekk his own legacy and join either LA or Knicks knowing that he would become a huge celebrity here and a gawd if he could led us to the promised land.

Lebron did the same. Once he wins a few rings it won't be an issue. This is worse for the league though. Durant might win the 7 rings Lebron was expecting. He's joining a team of stars in their prime unlike Wade. GS is so much deeper. This isnt fair

ACtually, Lebron, for what it is worth, did not come to a team that had been in consecutive finals, and might have won two in a row but for a flagrant foul.

Miami had a first round exit the year before James and Bosh showed up.

You also had Bosh having to change his game for the team to be effective.

I don't see it as the same thing.

Warriors had a great chance of winning it all without Durant this year...KD is just jumping on the bandwagon.

Players might not say it out loud, but many are probably thinking that Durant took the coward's way out of OKC.

gunsnewing @ 7/4/2016 12:04 PM
KD did the right thing. He wasn't winning in OKC. This year was their chance they weren't getting any closer. I have more respect for him for chasing a ring then only chasing a max contract with a team that can't realistically win

His chances in NY would've still been high, just not astronomical. I don't like it for his legacy. Joining a Finals team does nothing for him IMO. IF they don't win it all its a historic fail.

Once more...he would not have been joining a team that made the finals two years in the row which should have won two in a row, and might have won this year without Durant.

Sorry...if you don't grasp this you are missing something the big picture.

calling a player a pussy for making a choice that increase his chances for a ring is highly uncalled for IMO. HE didnt make any false promises to any team and said from day 1 that he will make the best decision for winning which he did. Maybe if the knicks drafted better and made better moves the past decade he would be joining us

And a team he just choked against.

Unfortunately this is great for the NBA in terms of viewers.

i agree if he loses then he looks bad. But you cant blame someone for simply making a choice

Wholeheartedly agree. Really think Westbrook on the other hand has bigger balls and wants the stage here or LA to take on the challenge

Yea but if he wins which he will be put up there with the all-time greats and not just another great player to never win. Being great and actually winning is like night and day in terms of legacy

Pissy?

I've always liked Durant...now I have to dislike him.

Very sad day, and I actually feel bad for OKC, which seems to have done everything it can to make the team a winner.

I know that Starks and Ewing would not have gone to the Bulls in their primes.

gunsnewing @ 7/4/2016 12:14 PM
Yea it seems stars these days learned from guys like Ewing. The worst part is we didn't even get to see Ewing retire a Knick

i just think many are overreacting....its not like he joined ISIS or something. Yes i understand it sucks because it makes the warriors even more likely to win many titles.

Ahhh...no, it won't, because the GS has already been great without him, and they should have won this year, too.

This hurts his legacy, IMO.

MaTT4281 @ 7/4/2016 12:18 PM
Worse than the Heatles. Ah well, Durant will look good in yellow. Seems to be his color.

I cannot agree more with this- the only thing that would have seemed worse is if he had done it after consecutive championships for GS.

Yeah and they should have beat the Warriors.

Sitting around with bunch of guys on July 4th. Their reaction was basically the same , shakes of the head with comments like "seriously', "weak", "coward", "c'mon"

His choice but your take isnt pissy at all. Think his move is not admired from the stand point of a star taking the easy road rather than a harder path
