Cartman - Ron Baker projects as a player who could benefit from playing big boy basketball as a 15th man. He does nor dress out, but works hard in practice ("../ we talki bout practice...") and wears some nice suits on the sidelines.
Like the undrafted Langston Galloway, you never know how any young man will respond to an opportunity until the ball racks are rolled out in training camp.

Thank you for the kind words Gustav. The Answer Man takes a nap and the entire roster is flipped. Did somebody say Derek Rose?

As surprised as you are. That old expression "you need a scorecard to keep up...." was never truer. Should be an action packed season.

Keeping our fingers crossed
http://nypost.com/2016/07/07/marshall-pl...After a jittery start in which he combined to shoot 4-of-18 in the first two summer league games, undrafted Wichita State guard Ron Baker came on strong. In his fourth game Wednesday, Baker collected 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals while making four 3-pointers. He’s a favorite of Hornacek’s and already has been invited to training camp. He likely will get a small guarantee. With Langston Galloway gone, Baker’s chances of making the squad improved dramatically.

I'm pretty sure he didn't have a breakout game and those were his combined stats unless i somehow missed a game that he broke out in??
Incorrect. Those were his game numbers for yesterday's game.
Yeah that's the game i missed cause i was at work. I'm hoping MSG or NBA TV replays the game so i can watch it.
I really like Baker and think he has a chance to make it. He'll need to continue to work on defining his body, improve his quickness, and learn how to finish around the rim on the NBA level. I love the way he works through screens and how he stays in good help position away from the ball. Contrary to popular belief Baker is not an undersized two he is average to above average in height, weight, & length. He is almost exactly like Dwyane Wade size wise.

What about the Randle guy? I haven't watched any of the games but it would seem like he deserves a shot to make the team and my guess is that the coaches saw immediately everything he could do on the court and decided to not play him more than 2 games so that he does not get some kinda guaranteed contract from another team? Possible/Probable?
He reminds me of Landry Fields before Landry started messing with that hot chick and lost his powers. He seems like a pesky, annoying type of guy like Dunleavy, too. Every team needs an end of bench guy like him, come in from time to time and muck it up. He can hit a shot, too....great find imo.
Rumor is an Italian team is trying to negotiate with him to come over...... Knicks better fully guarantee that contract.......

I think the opposite will happen. Guys die to get into the NBA and show themselves. Overseas teams are usually accepted after all other options evaporate.

Hopefully he negotiates an out if he gets an nba contract.

I thought I heard that he was already a camp invite...is it possible that the Italy thing is why Plumlee was signed already but not Baker?
Maybe he's trying to get a better contract...or is he just covering all the bases?

Not going to lie I was sort of hoping he made the team. We should know more later today since the summer league team is scheduled to play this afternoon.

AnswerMan returneth, and it suddenly coincides with
1) Roster looking deadly serious
2) The Hater contingent dissipating
Stay around, earl! SL and pre-camp activities should be fun (Melo teaching everyone soccer moves in PR?), and we need your third person to be praying for team health!
Baker 18-37 last 3 games (which doesn't mean dick, but...)
Remember when he couldn't shoot and summer league mattered?
Good times.
Baker looks like a solid prospect. I see no reason not to try and lock him up and bring him to camp. From what i've seen on him he looks like a great fit for how this team will be looking to play.
Baker and Randle have nice skills. I hope they make the varsity and Hornacek can help develop them further. Baker is a younger version of Horny, which is a good thing. Randle reminds me of Jeff Teague.
There are plenty of SL stars, many who will become available. Anyone remember Maurice NDour and the calls to locked him up to a nice contract. If Baker's agent is suddenly asking for more $ and guarantees after 3 good SL games then he makes his client vulnerable.
I really like thisthis Baker kid. Very well rounded player who has a lot of potential to make it in the league. We should lock him up
