Knicks · Interesting rumor - Celtics working on a trade for Blake Griffin (page 2)

GustavBahler @ 7/13/2016 1:10 PM
If they trade Griffin for mostly picks, it might be enough for Paul to look for greener pastures. Clips won't be contending without someone to replace Griffin's production.

Maybe its Doc's goal to drive Paul away so his son can step in and start at PG?

Al Horford stated before he signed that he wanted to play the 4.
How would it look to other players whose destination was Boston
if the Celtics turned around and told him he was going to
have to play the 5.

Okafor at the right price is a more realistic rumor.

And the Sixers really have a logjam of bigs on their roster.

Embiid
Noel
OK4
Saric
Simmons
Holmes
Wood?

No I dont think so, he needs Paul for him to be considered any kind of legitimate coach.

now the rumors are Westbrook to Boston...

Saw that, too. Boston has the assets to make a splashy move.

I hope if Westbrook goes there he doesn't re-sign right away.

They could get both, they are pretty stacked with picks and young players

Horford just mentioned the other day that there was a time he wanted to play the 4, but that is no longer a requirement. The league has changed, he's a 5. That being said, i don't know why LA would deal him to Boston. I don't see them going full rebuild, and that's the value in dealing with Boston. For a fair trade, Denver is a much better trade partner.

I live in MA and that's simply not true.
Horford will start at PF (too much wear and tear to play C full-time) but MAYBE be a 5 for 15-18 minutes a game for small ball lineups.

Danny has publicly stated that we needed a stronger center and a shooter, and maybe a ball handler.
He's not done dealing. However, Blake is not coming here, but I can envision him being part of a three team trade with SAC.

Personally, with our treasure chest full of assets, I'd like to get WCS for the 5 and maybe a shooter like McLemore. Then, we'd push the CAVS for the #1 spot in the EAST.

Regarding the Westbrook rumor, I just don't see it.
He's an LA guy and he just bought a mansion in Beverly Hills.
He's SHOWTIME, not cerebral, and not a fit in Steven's system.

Here's more to chew on....
1) KD is rumored to have left because of Westbrook.
2) I really want WCS, Noel or Okafor, someone to play the 5 that’s not a team cancer like the Boogieman. Did I mention Deandre Jordan?????

Simply put, Westbrook is a terrible fit with Stevens much like Rondo was, and Westbrook’s knees are going to catch up with him, he’s had problems. Finally, Horford is not here to play center.
I fully expect the next big move to be a starting caliber 5.

LOL, I do wonder what Durant thought of the arrangement.

I think it would prove difficult to get both... I imagine that both teams would require the Nets pick this year. But you're right, Boston is in a great position.

If this is true, why in the world would you want Gay over Crowder? I know Doc is a terrible GM but that's just bad. It's not like Sacremento has a lot of other assets to send either. I believe their picks are locked up until 2021 so why include Sac?

Obviously Boston's many first round picks (probably those unprotected Nets picks) will be heavily involved in evening out this deal... no way to tell what the other incentives are til if/when an actual deal occurs.

I get that Boston's picks could be included but they would be included regardless of Sacremento involvement. It just seems odd to give up the younger player who cost half the price as Gay. Plus Crowder is locked into that long term deal.

Of Course we have to wait and see though.

It's obviously more of a win now move meant to try to appease Chris Paul to not leave next summer in FA.

But I agree with you it doesn't seem like a great move for the Clippers on the surface. They're selling extremely low on Blake. But he has burned bridges with his teammates and staff in LA.

Also, yes, Doc is a terrible GM.

and a pretty bad coach.

Interesting if Boston is able to get both Blake and Westbrook. I could see them getting along, a bit too much ISO for me but they can form an athletic team around those two guys.
GustavBahler @ 7/14/2016 3:13 PM
I dont see Griffin and Brad Stevens meshing, and does Stevens have the clout to get Westbrook to change his game?
