Pretty logically accurate, maybe even highballing the Knicks. The last sentence spells it all really.
However, our panel knows that Rose has missed 244 games the past five seasons and Noah has missed 68 games the past two seasons.
However these predictions tell us, my personal gut feeling is that the Knicks will overachieve beyond the consensus negative view towards the 2016-2017 Knicks. I think they'll reach 45 wins with reasonable health for our key players and show some grit in a 2nd round playoff knockout. Maybe the 5th or 6th seed in the Eastern conference. And people think I'm the negative one here!
The proof is on the court.
Im sure somewhere between chuck buck and Nixluva lies the truth.

Since nixluva probably has us winning 73 games, a median wins between us would be 59 wins and a possible first seed!!
Come on, be realistic, Nalod!!!

exactly, my concern is the bench..
it's not the injury probabilities alone, it's also the potential for underachieving linked to the *lack* of chemistry that rose and jennings bring to the knicks. this may well be offset by the "fantastic melo of 25 games last season" as well as brilliant elbow-area passing by noah, but still. also, you have to be concerned that rose will take more than 13-14 shots a game, shots that should be going to kp6, melo, and even courtney lee.
i like a bench of hernangomez, thomas, and n'dour. as it is my five-game guesstimate is 38-43, so for once espn is not looking irrational like their prediction of 25 wins last year, which was plain stupid.
We will always be expected to underachieve until we don't. It's the Knick way.

Its july, I am also. On paper its not proven. Its interesting as hell though!!!! Holiday, Minda, Jennings, Lance, Plum, Willy, and N'dour. Just three with NBA experience!
Im wondering about Clearanthony. He is not signed yet. He is a knick, and I am rooting for him. I think Phil is not ready to give up on him from his comments the last few weeks about his length and quickness.
I've long stopped arguing about preseason predications that are not enthusiastic about the knicks. Usually they are more right than not.
As we have discussed, if you transpose Games missed by Noah, Rose and Jennings going forward the only conclusion about .500. I agree with that.
More likely unless we defy the odds, one will exceed expectations, on will disappoint and the third will be about "par" for expectation. Just a gut feeling is Rose has a great season, because he finished strong last year, Noah sort of Plots along missing a third of the season and Jennings will be injured and fall behind. Brandon will have some great games, but its about his consistency. Its not a predication, just tempering my expectations.
Same with the bench. One of Willy or Minda will exceed and the other will "take some time".
I like that Phil has some role players like Minda and N'dour.
ESPN's take is nothing different from what most rational posters have been saying. If healthy, this team can surprise alot of people. If not, then we're in for another long year.
But how do they have Charlotte ahead of us after the losses of Jefferson, Lin and Lee (who weakens their rotation and strengthens ours)? Walker and Batum isn't enough firepower.
And between Detroit and Atlanta, I see one of them having a down year.

charlotte gets MK gilchrist back, and its time for them to commit the uptempo which has to help Zeller and Kaminsky. Moves gives them room to develop.
they added Belinni, Brian Roberts and Hibbert for the bench. They Lose Jeffersons offense but get Hibberts defense. Kind of a trade off. Bellinni a better shooter than the penetrating Lin.
Also a trade off. I don't see them as better thru my ORAnge and BLUe colored glasses.
Ever since ESPN got the 17 win season dead on, I think some of take there predictions a little more serious, but aside from that season they have been at least 8 games short of there predictions majority of the time.

Meaning the team won 8 less games or 8 more games? I'm not sure that's right either way

Charlotte had a great year but wasn't that good to begin with. I can't see them as a playoff team. Detroit should be good. Atlanta will be fighting for a playoff spot but should make it as a 7 or 8 seed. I have:
1. Cleveland
2. Toronto
3. Boston
4. Indiana
5. New York
6. Detroit
7. Atlanta
8. Chicago (with Washington fighting to get in)
I don't think anyone else is any good.
Boston that good? They may be if they make another deal. Toronto seems to exceed, but still they took Cle 7 games!!!
Indy will be good and I agree Detroit are improved. Somewhere Orlando starts to make noise. I have no idea what Bulls are doing. Lost Pau, got Wade and they signed Rodo.
Knicks, I really just don't know where they fall. Pundits say knicks are not a .500 team.
We have such an interesting team. If we stay healthy I think we have to win 42-45 games, wouldn't at all be shocked at 50+ (depending on the bench).
If we experience injuries... ouch?
Will be fun watching the bench, really looking forward to the new guys and youngin's.

its all over the place... really anything can happen. Cant assume things will be good for the Knicks.
I agree Orlando pops at some point. I think the moves they made are a great fit for Vogel, and I feel the same for the Knicks and JH.

It's a weird team -- it could go great if guys rebound, have the comeback years we're hoping for and remain healthy for the most part (I'd say a win total somewhere in the 50s and a team capable of doing some real damage in the playoffs, even upsetting the Cavs in a 1st or 2nd round is a possibly
) or it could all go to shit and we may not even be a .500 team. It really could go either way. Praying for the former of course. Got no choice now--this is the team Uncle Phil put together. Not what I would've envisioned but you know what--with Melo's window closing by the day, maybe it was the right thing to try to go for it now while he's still a good player. Again, I liked the Rose trade and think he was absolutely worth the risk (we didn't include a pick, to me RoLo was replaceable and I don't think Grant will ever be a star, and Rose is an expiring contract--if he doesn't work out, he's gone -- not much to dislike)--then you gotta like how the other big acquisitions came aboard shortly thereafter. Everything fell into place pretty quick and it's a roster that makes some sense on paper for the most part. The one big caveat: we just need our top guys to stay health and perform like they're capable of performing. Can they do that? We'll soon find out.
Agreed though--my concern is with the bench also. I think if you decide to take on risky players with their type of injury history, you better stack that bench with viable fill-ins all the way down to 15. And Phil has for the most part, I'll give him credit. But again, even 3rd string end of the bench players are important imo. Super important. I still say we could've done better than Sasha at 3rd string 2G and I want a talented backup PG, someone with upside and a future, not a has-been. There's a good chance Rose and/or Jennings don't work out and won't be back next year. Why not try to grab a good young PG like a Dinwiddie or a Bryce Cotton as an understudy (esp. in a year we didn't have a draft pick--I understand we added some youth, but still), throw them a modicum of guaranteed money (why not? for the little amount we're talking, if it didn't work out--we cut them and move on. It's worth the ultra minor monetary investment) and groom them for a possible larger role next year. Start the process now with a younger PG. I think that's the right thing to do. I don't want a has-been with no future (this is a young man's game as we've seen time and time again) and I don't care for the 'let's wait and see' approach or the 'let's keep the 15th spot open for now' approach. That's too passive for me. Finish the job strong now. Dinwiddie or Cotton -- both look like they could go to camp with Chicago and Atlanta respectively but if we came aggressive with what amounts to a modest sum of guaranteed money, we could get either guy. These guys are both looking for a guaranteed money gig and to stay in the show, even if it meant coming to NY as a 15th man for now, believe me. No agent would tell these guys to pass up guaranteed money from NY right now if Phil Jackson came calling. And a smart agent would tell them, 'look--Rose and Jennings may not stay healthy this year and may not work out there long-term. Take the guaranteed money, go to Westchester to start if you had to and stay ready--very good chance opportunity could come knocking there, either this year or next.' I don't think Randle or Baker is worth remaining passive by keeping this 15th spot open for either guy. Take a look around, Phil -- there are better options. Dinwiddie's close to Shaun Livingston/Vern Fleming and Cotton's very similar to Aaron Brooks/Patty Mills (better imo -- I like Patty Mills but he doesn't have a 40" vertical like Cotton does) -- both guy's have NBA experience and have performed well when they were given a chance. I've got either guy ahead of Randle and Baker. If we like Baker that much, we should've taken him for the Vujacic spot. I would've been OK with that. But not as a 3rd string PG that very well may have to see some game action this year behind Rose and Jennings. I want more of a surer thing there waiting in the wings. I'll continue to look at this as a pretty glaring oversight until there's some kind of resolution.

Orlando is a little awkward. Only 1 player in their lineup can shoot above average and they are trying to fit a PF (Gordon) at the SF position. They will lack shooting and offense. Will be good defensively but they don't really have any standout talent.
