Melo has been our best player since Ewing and will go down top 5 in Knicks history. That alone says he doesn't belong as an option. That being said, the 2009 draft was a killer.

We were handicapped by his contract which made us make panic moves like trading for Tyson Chandler and using our buy out on Billups.
It was essentially Allan Houston. He was productive for 1/5 seasons. Every subsequent move was an all in. We had to trade for Melo and pay a kings ransom. Had we not made that signing we could have just kept rebuilding.

So we are back to assuming Ujiri and the Nuggets get nothing for Melo? Do you really think that was going to happen? Are you speculating that Melo wouldn't sign a deal under the old CBA with a team other than the Knicks if he was traded?
