Knicks · Courtside experience vs Bk Nets (page 1)

First of all MSG is beautiful. I haven't been since they completed the renovation and you notice the change once you get off the escalator. It's open and more fan friendly. Doesn't seem like a warehouse hallway like it used to. The arena is amazing too. You can tell every seat in the house is a good one. Great sight lines. Much better than Barclay.

The security is great too. I had a knife on my key chain and they were great about it. They escorted me to security and I checked it no problem. The security guy was so nice. Just thought I'd mention that because that's a nice change from the last time I showed up or other venues like yankee stadium for example. The atmosphere was cool. Had 2 Knicks fans next to me lol. Everyone else around me seem like tourist or just too cool to enjoy the game. Wish I remembered the waitress name she was really nice too.

I was in section 8, row 6 right next to the Knicks bench. I ve been court side but always several rows behind the bench. I never been this close to the Knicks bench where I can see their faces and everything that's going on. I don't know where to start but I'll highlight Lance Thomas. He made sure to interact with every kid near the bench. He was very engaging to the crowd. Always moving and feeding off the arena energy. Kuz and Willy seemed like they are good friends. They were next to each other, stretching/warming up. Cool to see. Noah is very serious, all business. I barely saw him open his mouth. He looked healthy during shoot around. Very fluid moving around. Brandon Jennings looks so happy. Not smiling or anything like that. He just moves like he's found his home. I love his swag for lack l lack of a better word. On the court he was almost salivating. He was locked in. I get the impression that he is hell bent on making a name for himself here. I was very impressed with everything he was doing.

Melo's son was out there shooting around before the game and during team warm ups before each half. He's not afraid of the eyes watching him. He was just a kid shooting around in the park out there. Very cool and well behaved. The players and staff were very friendly with him. He just seems like a good boy. I enjoyed his presence there. Melo's older brother was there with him. He's a tough brooklyn dude. He was stern with his nephew and Kiyan seemed to give him that respect.

Kurt Rambis looks like a weirdo lol. That's all...

I loved Hornacek and his demeanor. He's very cool. Reminds me of Pat Riley in a way just not in an Italian mobster way. Has the swag of a guy born and raised in NY. Guys were listening to him in the huddle. Guys were close and engaged to what he was saying.

Kyle Oquinn seems a little phoney to me. He's all smiles and stuff when the game started. He started off playing ok. Then when the Knicks were down he was the only one that was visibly upset. Not in a rally the troops way. It's more in a suck the life out of you kinda way. He was making my dad angry. We don't need that type of mentality. The game wasn't over. The Knicks still had 3 quarters to go.

Kristaps did not impress. He just seemed like a regular player. He's very tall though. His body looks like a kid trying to get through puberty. He can play though. He did not look at the basket when he got the ball. He didn't have that energy where guys were concerned about him on defense. He's got to figure that out. It's not about them giving him the ball. He's getting the ball it's just that he's not trying to look for his shot at all.

Oh man Plummlee was the man out there. When you are that close you can see who's playing hard and who cares about the game. Plummlee is that guy. He's a ball player. Fearless man... he's just out there playing. That first foul he committed where they reviewed it, you cab hear guys in the crowd yell stuff like "that's right baby!" "No layups fam that's what I'm talking about!" That set the tone. He was battling Lopez. Lopez is a dirty kind of player. He's not really playing ball. He's trying to manipulate the game playing with the refs. Plummlee is not concerned with that. He's playing hard. There was a play layer on that he tried to bang it on it forgot who, man that made everyone jump up. I myself yelled out "I see you Plummlee!" That to me was a game changing play. Guys seemed to lock in after that....and of course that Jennings behind the head alley oops was sweet as fuck! Plummlee had fire in his eyes running behind Jennings expecting to get a pass.

Shout out again to Jennings. He was fantastic during that stretch. He was schooling that kid Whiteside. The guys in the crowd were shouting at Jennings stuff like "let's go Jennings!" "Get em Jennings!" As few guys were up clapping and shouting their appreciation for his play.

If anyone has any questions, I really was paying attention to everything so I can give insight on whatever you want to know. I had such a great time.... I don't remember the last time I had that much fun watching a Knicks game at the Garden!

That's awesome ! courtside seats at the garden is on my bucket list . what was your impression watching Willy, ndour, randle? Surprised kuz didn't get more burn over jp T .

Back to randle the kid looks like a real NBA talent on both ends of the floor. Seems to be a pain in the butt on defense . And has a real sweet stroke . He's got my vote to make the team as the 3rd pg/sg.

Why didn't KP impress? he looked pretty impressive from the screen 12 pts in 19 minutes a few blocks, monster throw down off of Jennings pass, driving to the lane with the Gervin finger role, and the sweeping layup . One thing he still needs work on is finishing when he gets the ball down low in the paint. Seems to keep the ball to low and got striped both times . He looks very uncomfortable when he gets the ball that close to the basket.

Great stuff Eny! I remember some people laughed at me when I was supportive of Plumlee but maybe now they can understand why I was high on him and why he got signed.

I wouldn't worry about KP. I think he's just takin it easy early on. I think he's feeling his way with new players as well. I fully expect KP to turn it up when it counts.

I LOVE Randle! He's just what this team needs. He's already got the Triangle down from his college days and he's confident out there.

I really liked Willy and Ndour as well. The analysts questioned and mocked this bench but I think it's going to be a strength for this team.

i guess we should give you a medal about plumlee based on 1 preseason game lol.however im really excited about willy. I agree with phil i think he is comparable to luis scola which is not bad at all for a 2nd round pick

Willy is super skilled. I felt like he could score every single time he gets the ball inside. He's like Kevin McHale. He has tons of moves. Every time he got the ball you could hear people yelling "take him!" I myself yelled out "all day" and "they can't hold you". If he keeps working hard he could be a top reserve at least. He's not a bully or simply a finesse player. He just moves with purpose. He's also a guy that doesn't talk. He's just playing instinctually. I get that same vibe from Ndour and Kuz too. Speaking of Ndour, he's a guy that's seems to always be in the right spot. The 2 knick fans around me agreed that O'Quinn is in trouble Cuz you can't keep a guy like Ndour off the court. You just know he's there. Tireless effort guy. Good court awareness.

Randle is a killer. He reminds me of Nick Van ExeL when he got older. If he wanted to he could score alot of points. The way Melo can score when he feels like it no matter the defense? That's the vibe Randle had last night. He is stone cold though. No bravado. He just scores like he's just supposed to do that. Not like a rookie.

As far as KP... he got his stats but all within the flow. Opportunistic buckets. That's why I say he can play. He's confident and just gets it done. He's just not showing off any go to type of skill. The dude from the Wizards that was guarding him seemed like he was a foot shorter and want particularly working hard to guard KP. He was locking him up from any individual opportunities. It's just great that KP still stays focused and locked in to scrape together opportunities.

EnySpree @ 10/9/2016 9:59 AM
This kid on Brooklyn Randle... the former #1 pick?

He is garbage. During shoot around all he was doing was shooting 3s. His body language, his facial expressions... just poor. His court presence sucks. I forgot who it was but get were just locking him up on defense. He just like like he doesn't really like basketball. Like he could care less. The guys around me kept calling him d league. I say ymca. He's in better shape I'll give him that but he is a project to simple wave the red flag on describing his game

EnySpree @ 10/9/2016 10:04 AM
Oh Ron Baker looked slick and confident. He had a confident smirk on his face and a killer look in his eye. I feel like he was trying to make a point to play good last night. He gained alot of fans yesterday at msg. "Oh did he play with Cleananthony?"
crzymdups @ 10/9/2016 10:38 AM
Awesome report man. Thanks.

Good to hear about Jennings. I've expected big things from him here. He does look comfortable and confident. Hopefully he finds a home here.

crzymdups @ 10/9/2016 10:44 AM
Good to hear about Chasson Randle too. I've really liked what I've seen from him.
CrushAlot @ 10/9/2016 11:19 AM
Wow. Fantastic write up. That stuff about OQuinn is concerning as his play hasn't been good on the court. Great that you got to do that with your dad. I am hoping the Knicks find away to open two spots and keep both Randle and baker.
martin @ 10/9/2016 11:21 AM
Awesome stuff Eny. I think everyone is coming to a consensus on KOQ.

Any thoughts on Kuz and Lee?

StarksEwing1 @ 10/9/2016 11:24 AM
Its tough to get too hyped on players performances in preseason but i liked what i saw from willy,kp,and jennings. I expect jennings to be our starter at some point

Kuz didn't get enough run. Couple guys around didn't know who he was. He knows how to play. He had the old guy on the court feel about him. His head is up and his eyes are moving. He looked comfortable and he played loose. As I said, during the breaks in play he was with Willy evey time trying to stay warm, hopping around and stuff.

This guy Lee showed a different side to him. He was shouting stuff out to the ref with his hand over his mouth like "you blind ref you suck!" . He was talkative on the bench. Showed a little bravado. I though of Paul Pierce a little with how he talks. Definately not as dramatic as PP but that's the first player I thought of when watching his mannerisms.

The game in itself reminded me of the old Knicks with the way they played that first half. That Brooklyn team sucked. They had a few shooters. They made them look better than they were. The rookie kid from Indiana stood out at pg. Whitehead had a look like the atmosphere was getting to him. He looked like he wanted to go home. Glad the Knicks didn't give up and eventually turned it on.

You know why Plumlee started? Cuz the Coach liked his effort and energy in practice. It's not about giving me a medal, it's about seeing a guy go out there and give it his ALL. If you can't appreciate that kind of effort then you simply don't get it. That's the kind of effort that pumps up your team and the fans. The more guys we have who can play like that the better. Willy and Ndour do the same kind of things but more under control and obviously with more skill.

See this is why we have problems. I NEVER said EVERYONE was wrong about Plumlee!!! I said above "I remember some people laughed at me when I was supportive of Plumlee". See the HUGE difference there? If you're going to accuse me of something at least be accurate. Also how about keeping things in perspective. Plumlee is a reserve and so i'm not saying he's some big time player. I do think he can be a good reserve big for this team.

It's very often the case that you and others who jump on me overstate my position on players and fail to keep things in perspective. Saying something positive about an undrafted player should always be kept in perspective for his relative talent level. It's not like the expectations are the same as KP.
