knicks Other than 2013 Noah has averaged missing about 25 games a year. Do you think hes going to have some kind of miraculous change here? I dont rely on him from day 1 and anything I get is gravy. Hopefully Plumlee and Willy can come along fast. I still say offer a 2018#1 to Philly for Noel as he mad in his situation there.

GustavBahler @ 10/13/2016 8:47 PM
You dont do the Bulls trade, and you have Jennings and Randle at PG. IDK, that lineup with Lopez could have been like the Pitino Knicks. Not quite there yet, but on their way. Hope this works out for the best. Sure not starting that way.

I agree that has a lot of appeal, but Jennings isnt Cal Ripken... he's not been the most durable guy either. He goes down and we are hosed at guard. Also figure that Lee signing here for what he did had alot to do with Noah signing here first. He's been public about that, and considering what guys like Shump, Evan Turner, Allan Crabbe... guys who are pretty damn average you figure the Knicks werent Lee's only option. The NBA is a perimeter game now... Lee has a coveted skill set.

Grant/Lopez/Jennings/Galloway vs. Rose/Noah/Jennings/Lee

Maybe we sign a different guard over LG.. Im not sure.

you know Noah is going to get banged up some and miss games, although not as bad as Briggs would paint. The question is if he's healthy for the playoffs, if he pays off as a culture signing and if he pays off as a mentor for Willy and KP. Plumlee also, but I view him as a much lower ceiling player than the Euro buds. Maybe this hurts us later, but all things considered (including the FA market) I am good with Noah being here. I actually really like the mix of vets, talent and fresh legs.

nixluva @ 10/13/2016 9:30 PM
There's an entire season ahead and we mainly need Noah to play about 70 games and be healthy for the playoffs. I think they are going to be very careful with him in the preseason. If he tweaks anything I think they hold him out. Let's just hold off on all the talk about being glass. Last year there were similar fears about Afflalo and then he ended up settling down into 71 game season.

I have to agree. I was/am skeptical when they dropped Noah's contract knowing guys like Horford were still on the board. Noah is a legit defensive captain. And for a 7 fter, his physique is impeccable. I want to believe in the kid, but I have doubts. I hope he can help implement a defensive mindset before he gets too injured.

That said if you take Lopez at 13 and replace him at 16 for two years it is a no brainer (especially if you count dumping Calderon in the Rose trade). Its thr other two years that are suspect.

im not any more worried now than i was before. hamstrings. ankle sprains. those things happen to anyone. hasn't be been someone who would typically gut out those kinds of things when needed? his major injuries were the shoulder and knee and those seem like they are ok.

I don't disagree. Though the guys who really gut it out you never heard from in the first place.

That's a lot nix. Youre talking 7/8 years the guy has avg 57 games played what suggests to you an aging player with downward trajectory is going to out perform his own avg

Cartman718 @ 10/14/2016 8:35 AM
Hopefully Noah is rubbing off on Willy

I agree. I bet he probably plays with this ankle sprain if he were needed during the season.
knicks1248 @ 10/14/2016 9:31 AM
W'ell just hearing the players state that he's presence on the floor makes a world of difference, that's kind of scary. It just shows How much of a impact he has overall.

We can't afford to have him in and out of the line up, especially at the start of the season, and training camp holds a lot more weight than on may think

72 million is an awful lot of shekels for a cultural mentor; I'm still hopeful Noah's actually going to play more for us than he has recently. Not sure why. He's the one guy who's playing paid with a chip on his shoulder. I'm sure our games against the Bulls are going to be very interesting. And I'd rather him sit out preseason than when things count. I'm also thinking he's going to be playing through sheehit injuries like this when things get real. Noah strikes me as the type who has Jerry Reisdope's quotes on his walls somewhere.

I'm not ready to think Jennings/Randle are Clyde/Pearl yet. Hell, at this point, I'm just happy they're not Grant/Freddette. Agree with fish that Jennings is brittle until proven otherwise by lasting longer than 3 preseason games and I'm also hoping he really isn't a brain dump ala JR Smith waiting to happen.

yup... WAY too much. The only point is that Noah's value *can* be greater than just the time he spends on the floor, and if ever there was a time to invest in those qualities its when you have Willy/KP on the roster and hopes they anchor your frontcourt for 10+ years. My upside for Noah is he plays 60+ games and his healthy for the postseason. If we get that we will be very very dangerous. I understand the risks but based on the market and our needs I am happy with his signing. Also he gets credit for helping bring Lee in here as well.

I DONT think he matters unless he's actually playing, sort of like when rasheed was here, like it's only so much you can scream out from a seat on the bench. he's communication on defense is priceless according to everyone who has ever played with him
