Watching Chicago/Cleveland right now on NBA-TV. Good game. Real up and down action. Cleveland up 14 despite having all their regulars out. Wade/Rondo started in the backcourt for the Bulls, backed up by Dinwiddie/Canaan (Dinwiddie doing most of the ball-handling with Canaan playing off the ball). So far no Grant. He could be out tonight though, not sure. You figure one of Dinwiddie, Grant or Canaan will be out of the rotation--and that player won't be happy. Grant was a rotation guard for us last year, Canaan's logged NBA time, as has Dinwiddie. I don't think any of those 3 would be happy sitting or playing in the DL. Dinwiddie could've leapfrogged Grant. I really like him. Big, versatile guard with a great feel for the game. I wish we drafted him a couple of years ago instead of Early. If Dinwiddie ever becomes available, I'd love to see Phil scoop him up right away.

There was an article praising Canaan for his defense. He already spaces the floor so he could be a great pick up for them. Also, both Dinwiddie and Grant are big guards so he could share the backcourt with one of them.
"The thing I liked the most is he made simple plays," Hoiberg said. "(Defensively), he's really into the ball. ... Initially, we wanted to get a guy who is a floor spacer, but he's shown a lot more than that. Into the ball, he's been as good as we've had.

"If he can continue that role and play with that type of intensity at the defensive end, he's got a chance to play good, quality minutes."

Grant played the entire 4th quarter of the Cavs game for the win .. I see Grant taking minutes away from Canaan n Dinwiddie in the regular season. Grant speed picked up a notch to knock down layups

I want to see that cat play free and then he can show his skills. I thought he was a special player coming out of college.
He can run a team. I thought he would eventually do ok here, but we were waiting on his shot and he was handcuffed in this system.
Too early to say anything about him, but I do expect him to turn things around.

Hardaway on the other hand, not sure. Very inconsistent and defense is just not there.

Yeah Grant has really gotten a raw deal in the nba so far. He was such a great college player. Hopefully he gets moved to a place where he gets a chance to get minutes.

I like everything Holiday does more... except shooting. Timmy has a great 3pt shot. But I think Holiday can be the better rotation player.

and in other news, okafor has been benched in philly. kp6 looking better than ever.

I guess you have to dig a bit deeper to know that Okafor is coming back from a knee injury and is on a minutes restriction.

Well Joel Embiid would have most centers in this league on the bench wouldn't he...Intellectualy honest means telling the whole story..

Embiid has looked amazing. Embiid and Simmons could be an incredible tandem. I think Grant and Holmes are really good. Philly has a lot of talent.

Both Grant and Holmes improved their games ...Embiid can revive that franchise..I hope he stays healthy..It would be good for the game..Cap space to bring in a PG and SG..It's going to be fun watching them versus Minny..

Not for nothing, but Sergio Rodriguez who had a cup of tea with us was making some amazing passes..

Totally agree. Embiid is like two years away from being a top-3 center in the league and of Simmons develops a jumpshot, philly's team is going to be unstoppable. Plus, I think they still have the Lakers future first rounder.

Hardaway in 19 minutes last night:
3-11, 7 points, 1-6 3pt, 1-2 FT, 3Rb, 1ass, 1stl

That's Hardaway.... one night you wonder why he's not a starter... the next night you wonder why he's in the league

And how many years are we away from this happening? That would be year what year six of the "rebuilding?" They still need some backcourt help in a major way, Noel is going to be gone and Okafor and Embiid can't play together.

"Unstoppable" is a major stretch at this point. Even though he has been impressive it's just two games.

Grant wasn't in the box score. Not sure what happened.
And yeah (Enyspress too), if nothing else, Hardaway is inconsistent. More so than JR but without the defense.
I have always liked Grant though. Fell out with Hardaway due to inconsistency.

He has been inactive since the start of the season. Meaning, not good enough to make active roster.

Well, that is one way to look at it. You know, like how last year Hardaway was on the active roster, rarely played and for a while sucked bad.
Sort of weird, they let Dinnwiddie (spelling) or the like go to keep Grant and he gets no play.

It seems like Okafor would be the guy getting traded. Noel can play the 4 or the 5 but I believe his contract is up after this year. I really like Jerami Grant and Richaun Holmes. They should be able to draft a really good point guard in the next draft. There is a lot of talent in Philly. It will be interesting to see what moves they make.

Embiid definitely the first pick and pray he stays healthy..I'll project Embiid ahead of Towns going forward, yes believe it...He is a true franchise center of days long gone...He was eating up Adams from OKC while trash talking "he can't hold me" after game one...Adams is a damn good defensive player..His footwork in the paint is amazing...But Wiggins two and maybe Parker three...The center from Denver maybe in the top 6 and Rodney Hood as well..Nurkic had a nice game last night, 23 pts and 17 boards I think against the Blazers..Was a good game, your boy Gallo got blocked in the end to put the game away..Embiid, I hope, will make kids think about playing traditional center again..
