Knicks · Golden state Warriors got smacked last night too (page 1)

By San Antonio... any golden state fans going off the deep end after game one?

We got smacked by the nba champions the night they got their rings at home. Tough environment.

The Knicks made a game of it until half time. Once the starters came out again that's when the bottom fell out. It's all too early for all the crying.

Man it's just typical for some to get their panties in a bunch over a bad loss but with no perspective! That was the 1st game our starters all played together and we knew they could have some issues. Plus Hornacek needs some time to settle on a good rotation. This was his 1st real game with everyone playing as well.

The Warriors at least have more returning players from their great season to rely on. Heck we don't have that. The Knicks are mostly new and have less to fall back on. There were a few good signs among the many bad performances tho. Thank goodness they have practice days to work on things before the next game.

Yea with one of our best players missing all of preseason I'm surprised we kept it close till halftime.

This is going to take some time to gel but the pieces are there for sure .. KP needs to be given the ball ALOT . LT to me is the biggest disappointment he's been playing like a 12th man since preseason started bricking wide open looks and playing mediocre defense .

Also remember when the heat struggled for the first few weeks of there new super team !

Vmart @ 10/26/2016 9:27 AM
It's not going to go well for the Knicks in the early stages. Rose missed all of preseason and Noah majority of it. This is going to be a process. Get better as the year progresses should be the goal. Use the season to learn and do things better. Every game should be used to learn defense and execution on offense. Concentrate on help defense defensive rotations. Use the season to make the skill set great. Understanding execution teammates nuances.

Nobody wants to talk about golden state?
jrodmc @ 10/26/2016 2:08 PM
No, not in the Knicks forum in it's own dedicated thread.

But the point of this is that they got smoked by 29pts too... yet the consensus after one game is that the Knicks flat out suck and can't get better... Golden state has the "need time to gel" treatment. Why can't or Knicks get that treatment?

Why we comparing the gift of goods with omelet?

Because both teams got blown out... yet somehow we're the same old Knicks and golden state is just gellin

They also won a championship and have been in the finals two straight years.

We have sucked for nearly 15 years. It's always ok to panic if you're a Knick fan.

The Warriors are going to truly miss Bogut, Ezeli, and Speights - those guys all fit what they try to do perfectly. A big part of the GSW attack is predicated on getting stops and turnovers. They have no interior defense left to spark those things. When you don't have interior D, every guard has a harder time on the perimeter, etc. Barnes is a good defender, too, and while I'd say he was average offensively, he fit their style of play well - moved the ball, rebounded, shot those corner threes.

I think GSW will get to a point where they are really good again, but their defense and depth took a real hit with their roster re-alignment.

As for the Knicks? First game with their new starting lineup - 3 new starters, 3 new bench guys, new coach? Playing on the road against the defending NBA champs? Hey. It would've been nice to keep it close the whole game, but what happened is not surprising. And calling for wholesale changes before the starters even get used to one another is crazy.

crzymdups @ 10/26/2016 3:57 PM
Also, in terms of over-reacting to one game - remember last January, GSW waltzed into Cleveland and beat the tar out of them? 132-98. Lebron freaked out after the game. But it wasn't the defining Warriors/Cavs game of the season!

Most analysis agreed that it takes time when you have 10 new players, but the difference is, we have been losing for so long that we want to see that change immediately

Bonn1997 @ 10/27/2016 1:34 PM
Maybe we can use this reasoning to get GS to switch rosters with us!
RicanHavok @ 10/27/2016 2:59 PM
Curry, Klay, Green & Durant - UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! There I said it!

Re: title

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated

knickscity @ 10/27/2016 8:51 PM
Both teams faced a bad matchup. SA is a big team that loves to defend and can shoot just as well as GS, and happen to have the best coach in the game. Big teams that have shooters are gonna be a problem for GS. The key here is that there isn't many of them, so they shouldn't have problems racking up wins, and now lets turn the attention to the Knicks.

The Knicks are not a top team on paper or not. They wont be a top seed, they don't have anywhere near the talent of GS. Think about it, the Knicks starting five outside of Melo would all come off GS bench, Porzingis included. They played the champs that some of you actually think they match up well with, when in reality they don't match up well at all.

EnySpree @ 10/27/2016 9:06 PM
I'm pretty sure golden state would love to have Noah or KP at center... besides why would you break up what golden state has for anyone else on the Knicks roste? Curry is the best at his position. Thompson is the best at his position. Durant is the best small fwds in the game not named lebron... it's silly to say that our players would be in the bench, because that would go for every other player in the league again not named Lebron...

Anyway... Golden state still got smacked. San Antonio has quite a few new faces on their team too. It was a legit ass whoopin. Same as the Knicks.

As far as our guys... we don't have a team filed with the best players in the league line Cleveland and golden state... we do have a very talented group none the less. All have 81 more games to play
