Knicks · I'll take a stab at Josh Smith and Carl Landry to help the bench... (page 1)

Two free agents still out there along with JJ Hickson in China..Josh Smith is 30 and can still rebound and defend..Landry can bump and thump grab some boards and execute put backs...Let's get this team to the playoffs!!!

No thank you regarding Josh Smith. I say just be patient and develop the guys we currently have on the bench.

And who are you gonna drop for either one of them??

Too early to tell exactly what we might need or could use but if I had to guess, 2 things eventually: (1) possibly a steadier backup PG over Brandon Jennings (still hoping he can turn it and become productive but a good part of me feels like this might have been a complete misfire signing. Dude's been erratic to put it mildly) and (2) a rugged rebounding/shot-blocking PF with a post game (someone like Diamond Stone).

Well that's going to be for Phil to decide..Whether or not to put the pieces around a starting five that will enable them to compete into the playoffs. Whether or not the players on the bench has the talent worthy of a long term investment...I think if healthy, our starting five can compete and I don't see Joel Embiid on our bench...

Norris Cole is in China and Mario Chalmers is coming back from a knee injury and still out there...I hadn't realized Jennings was so helter skelter...

I would reserve judgment until we see more games. Allow Hornacek to do his job and coach these guys up. People want perfection from the opening tip!!! We've gotta give them time to work things out. There are a lot of players on this roster that it's gonna take time to evaluate what we have and what we may need.

exactly. only 2 games. lets see what happens

but this was my concern heading into the season. this is a very weak bench for a team with injury history. holiday has been ok but yes i worry about jennings. with that said, ive never been a josh fan - plus hes lost his athleticism. id just be patient for now

I'd rather develop Kuz than some retread that is questionable.

My thoughts exactly. We have some young dudes who I would love to see them develop versus digging up a unreliable guy like Josh Smith.

+2 on Kuz. We haven't seen him in for more than 9 minutes a game. With Lance looking shakier by the day, Kuz looks like he's ready to take Lamce's minutes. Kuz seems to be a more confident offensive option.

I agree. He's a 27 year old rookie, no need to baby him. Thomas should have a short leash before they give Kuz a look.
