Knicks · The bright side: if this experiment fails, we have our draft pick. (page 1)

I'm not saying it's over. This team can still be good. But if the wheels come flying off, at least we can look at draft picks in the spring. Last year with no pick was rough.

Phil reload V3... hmmm... The greatest and last.

I mean... if this season is bad, I could see Melo asking for a trade to the Clippers by mid-season or after the year. Maybe Phil leaves. Maybe Rose leaves, too.

But I care a lot less about all this if we have our draft pick! And we do!

At the end of the day, it's all about building this thing around Porzingis. I am hoping we keep Jennings. He is still young and while erratic, looks like he can be very good for many years and wants to be here. Hermangomez and Baker both look like they can turn into solid role players. We will need to get this draft pick right. Then just continue to build with patience. If things don't go well, Phil will likely leave, but having left us in much better shape than when he started. He gave us stability and a franchise player, so no complaints there.

3 games into the season....the starting unit has played 3 games together and we are talking about the wheels falling off.....I know glass half full but shessh..

I really don't think we can judge this team until we play teams we are supposed to beat. We are 1-2 against good teams. Teams that made the playoffs last year. We could easily be 0-3. The schedule will continue to be tough for a little bit too.

Rose contract comes off the books too... if the floor falls out at least we can reload quick
StarksEwing1 @ 11/2/2016 7:43 PM
I don't think it will fail but it will probably end up where I predicted 42-45 wins. The good news like the OP said is that we have 3 draft picks. We might even be able to move into the first round again.

The draft is supposed to be stacked with point guard prospects. The Knicks may get their point guard of the future next summer. Hopefully it is a good season and they aren't in the lottery but they are set up now to build through the draft if they need to.

i hate to lose but it might serve us better to get another high pick like KP.

Yup, that's why I'm not sweating it- the bleak days of not having our pick are over. Now if we have a bad season we get a high pick to compensate

It certainly is nice that we have our 1st rounder this year. I believe we have Chicago and Houston's 2nd round pick this year but our 2nd round pick is outgoing to Utah or Phili? http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/f... I don't see it there, but doesn't Denver have the right to swap our 1st rounder the draft after the next draft?

It is way too soon to say much, but our worries regarding Rose not being able to facilitate look real.
Noah playing only half a game is a concern, though that gives KP time at the 5.

As others said, this next draft is loaded at PG, I hope we strike KP like gold again.

gunsnewing @ 11/3/2016 7:08 AM
lol

That rule was taylor made for the Knicks who would've traded every pick for the next 25yrs

I think our debt to Denver has been completely paid. No more conditions on any of our 1st round picks. We own them all.
