Knicks · Hernangoat (page 1)

Another amazing showing from the young rookie coming off the bench. This had better get him that backup centre spot I wanted him in, O'Quinn isn't doing a thing for me and Hernangomez could be the future front court pal with Kristaps. 14 and 6 with two blocks? I think that Hernangoat and Porzingod has got a ring to it.
BRIGGS @ 11/9/2016 9:40 PM
The future foundation of willy G and Kp is by far the best situation the Knicks have been in in almost 20 years

They looked good tonight.

Knixkik @ 11/9/2016 11:31 PM
It's nice to have a couple of guys with upside for a change. Too bad that both of them are really centers. Porzingis' future is at center. I see Willy becoming a great reserve player who can play alongside Porzingis for stretches, but not sure if they can ever start alongside each other.
WaltLongmire @ 11/9/2016 11:37 PM
Best thing I saw was that 15 ft J he hit at one point...that shot would make him so much more valuable. Average defender at best right now, but he moves well without the ball and even though he's a below the rim player, he's able to find ways to finish at the basket.

Going to be fun seeing Hernangomez and KP develop, and Noah should be a great help for Willy's development on D.

Nalod @ 11/10/2016 7:08 AM
The kid is a work in progress.
Some see it as "He is being held back".......
Or, his steady improvement is part of not being rushed. Confidence is important as as he gains it, the better he will be.
Its can be detrimental to a players development to hand a kid a position based on potential.
It will happen, and sometimes patience is good.

Ive said that since the Olympics. Not as much as you talk about Seth Curry so people havent noticed as much
GoNyGoNyGo @ 11/10/2016 9:04 AM
Willy looked great.

At one point, they had Willy, KP, Kuz, Vujacic and Jennings together. All European except Jennings obviously. They played unselfishly, ran the system and played DEFENSE!!

I would like to see that unit more often.

I think Kuz is really good, just needs time to play (20-30 mpg) to show it.

newyorker4ever @ 11/10/2016 9:05 AM
Billy has a long way to go before he's ready for big minutes but KOQ is just so damn inconsistent that he sometimes angers me. Billy had a good night last night but it mostly came against L.Scola which is a huge advantage for Billy and when Lopez did play he was making Billy look like a rookie. He sure seems like he's gonna be a good one but he's got a ways to go. Did you see him go to help a Nets player up near the end of the game and B.Jennings grabbed his arm and yanked him away so he couldn't help him up?? lol
EnySpree @ 11/10/2016 10:02 AM
Willy is not really a rookie. He has to get used to the nba rules, but he's been playing this way professionally for years. He has Olympic experience too. I believe him and Ndour just won a euro title with real madrid. He's no slouch and he's definitely not green.

Kuz has a baller swag. He's been playing pro for years too and has been one of the best players ever to come out of Lithuania. He has a wealth of Olympic experience too.

We're going to need all of our bench players to be successful but these guys should not be look at as players that have to learn or prove. These guys are legit players

Jennings has European ties as well... remember he left str8 from HS and started his career overseas.....so Jennings is the perfect PG to have with those guys.

id have to disagree with that i think willy held his own vs lopez better then oquinn or noah he has more speed then those two. and was able to get out on lopez he also has the body to bang with him as well.... it might take a few more games for people to realize but willy is the real deal same goes for kuz

From what I saw, at least in this one game, Lopez made Noah look like a rookie. Or an old broken down player. Noah has got to be better than this against elite talent if we're going to go anywhere meaningful.

Lopez had his way with anybody guarding him. But im not surprised. Just like Melo had his way. The question is do we hang our heads or try to attack him on the other end. If KP had the strength and defensive IQ, he would be the perfect equalizer to lopez.

yea... getting beat by Brook's scoring is no shame. Lopez can score it plain and simple. Thats a very tough matchup for any young player. What was great was watching him exploit Scola... a matchup we owned and found repeatedly. How often do we simply pine for the Knicks to goto the matchups we can win? Boy we got it right vs. the Nets, and they have been playing well. No pushovers. Hopefully something to build on.

Did you just compare the pro league of Euro ball to the NBA?? There's a huge difference in the way the game is played between those two leagues and the NBA is at another level so Billy is clearly a rookie for the NBA IMO.

I think everyone already realizes that Billy is the real deal but just needs more time but i guarantee if he starts getting more playing time we'll sometimes see a good player and sometimes see a player that will look somewhat lost while on the floor because he just needs the game time to get himself adjusted but he's not there yet, close but not there yet.

You do realize just how great of a player B.Lopez is right?? He's an absolute beast and easily a top 5 center in this league and nobody in the NBA can stop him. I'm pretty sure he put the ball in the basket on every attempt he had when Billy was guarding him. Not saying Billy didn't do a decent job but he definitely didn't stop him from scoring.

Brook being able to put the ball on the floor to drive and showing three point range was really impressive.

BroPez is an elite offensive center in the league. Few are able to stop him.
Nets should consider trading him as part of a rebuilding strategy to retool.
I would imagine they do.
CrushAlot @ 11/11/2016 11:48 PM
What a find. The guy looks like a rotation player for the next 10 years.
