I was extremely discouraged by his firing. To me - the job he did to get last year's team to 22-22 was nothing short of a miracle.
I think Phil overreacted and we lost a good young coach.
I like Hornacek okay so far, but he's already been questioned by Phil publicly - rumblings about the Triangle, Rambis being put in charge of defense. Etc.
I just think Fisher was a good coach who was still learning and getting better and did a very good job with a poor roster last year.
We are not.
Fisher had his issues, but he was also a rookie coach that just had retired. And he entered the mess that is Jackson's triangle.

He was growing on me. I honestly thought his first season he was screwed from day 1. His second season I thought he did well. I was astounded when Phil fired him.
Fischer sucked, get over it

A well-reasoned, cogent argument. Thank you for your scholarship, sir.
I think Fisher did a solid job his 2nd season but ultimately Phil wanted someone more innovative on offense. The offense had become to wane under Fish and Porzingis began to play worse.
Hornachek is a much better coach on offense and is utilizing Porzingis far better. If you see the one game that KP was ignored this season, Jeff was all over the team. I think this is where Phil sees value in Hornachek. He's a better basketball mind on offense, gets more out of KP, and also has more "zen" qualities.
The downside in Hornachek is his teams don't defend all that well. Or he doesn't seem to value that end much. You look at his Suns teams even, they weren't that good on defense. He clearly needs someone better than Rambis to help him.
I was surprised Fish got the boot, but I think Hornachek is a much much much better coach for offense for KP. To me in the longrun that's all that matters. If these years we are a 30-35 win team while Porzingis keeps developing, you want a coach for him who will allow him to truly maximize his potential. Too many times last year I saw KP get the bench as soon as he missed a shot or two or tried to be a little creative. This is a vital factor in the coaching upgrade.
Our team outside of KP is old, on their way down (core starting 5). They play like it. No consistency, not enough energy on defense. I've gone from being extremely excited about this season to just hoping we can stay close to .500 and keep getting KP to grow on offense. As we saw in this 1st half already, KP has a monster in him that can be unleashed with time. Some of his moves are already incredible. When he hits his prime, we need to make sure we have a prime star guard next to him. If we do, we're set.
wasn't bad; wasn't good either; he didn't have that "it" factor that the really good/great ones do
Like S.Kerr situation we'll be crying about the loss of Luke Walton as a candidate too; he is looking good thus far
like Mark Jackson, Fish liked to preach but not really teach

Jeff does care about D and I think he was hampered by the firing of his Defensive Coach Mike Longabardi, who is with the Cavs.
I think when it comes to Fish, he had some good ideas much like Jeff, but I think his off the court issues also lead to his demise. Phil was his boss and you really can't be pissing off your boss cuz as soon as you hit a losing streak then you have no margin for error. Fish also may not have really liked being a coach. If he takes a College gig that would show he really loves coaching IMO.
I thought he was a bad coach but some of that could have been the front office. I'm willing to give Phil the season but for me to continue to support this season ahs to go much better than it has been going

I thought he was a neutral coach- didn't really impact the game one way or another
