Knicks · Why does the Media and the NBA hate us? (page 1)

KP4Life @ 11/15/2016 7:00 PM
The media is trying to create some bs fight between Melo and Phil now cause of his comments. Seriously? Cause he called Lebrons friends a "posse"? Besides the fact that this is some overly pc garbage the country has to deal with, it's dumb to try to create a damn fight within the team. It's like they hate Phil Jackson and wants the Knicks to fail. No wonder nobody wants to play here.

And further, why do the freaking refs hate the Knicks? We never get calls, even at HOME! It's even worse at MSG. What the heck? Is Phil trying to get the refs to have us secretly tank?

the knicks losing and the fanbase in misery sells

In general the media loves to take down guys at the top of their profession but especially if the guy is kind of a jerk. Phil is kind of a jerk sometimes so the media will go out of its way. Dolan and MSG are not media friendly and so they get the media venom. On top of that the team hasn't been winning.

Now this can change if this team plays like it did in their wins and wins more games. This is the only way to get past this.

Isola has it out for Phil. I think Phil closed off all the leaks in the organization and the media doesn't like him for that. Also conflict sells newspapers . The media is so negative towards the Knicks, its sickening.

It is also much easier to say same old Knicks and not do your job. The Knicks have 10 new players including 5 rookies.

They think drama sells, personally I find it boring

Dirty Laundry - "...kick em when they're up, kick em when they're down..."

Why do we love to hate ourselves in NYC? Homerism is akin to cancer here. Media scum are just providing what the purchasing hordes want to hear and read.

You hit the nail on the head. I think we all have been saying the media is basically vultures circling.

The Knicks have been a bad organization for close to a decade and a half. Do you want the media to lie to your faces and say that all is well with the Knicks? Do you insist the media talk more positive about the Knicks because they want to agree with something that you personally enjoy, thus you feel more validated?

I really can't imagine why else you would insist on the media being so positive about the Knicks. Newsflash. They are a bad team. At least the media brings light to the situation.

I thought there was plenty of positive press over the summer with the hiring of Horny and the addition of new players.
Are the new players amazing acquisitions? Not when they have the injury history. Thus the hype is set, then the sourpuss has to also tell us how "stupid" we are to believe, all the while offering no bonafide alternative because none can be really constructed. Fans are famous for seconding guessing the obvious and coming up with their own scenarios without much consideration for market value or what the other teams needs would be for a trade to work.

Phil also does not care what others think. We all thought he'd hire Rambis and we were wrong.
One need not look any futher than Steven A. Smith to understand the hype machine and how it all works.

BTW, Winning on the court is the ultimate truth.
Does the NBA hate the knicks? I don't know why. Does the media? Does ESPN have it in for us? Why would they? What do they gain?
Why hate on the team in the biggest market?

Ratings.

The media paints a picture that scares away FAs. You want to play in NY or go to Else where for the same money. The Knicks can only attract middle of the pack FAs or lower.

I think players are more afraid of not succeeding then they are the media.
If you change coach's every other year, turn over the roster frequently then what is the chance of succeeding in MSG? Then, the media turns on you.

That would be a great thought, if success here guaranteed the media doesn't grind you either way. Why come here and put up with the ESPN-level NYC self-hate except for the 5-6 hours before and after you win a chip? And if you don't happen to enjoy having the Berman's of the world digging the feces out of your azzhole before you even feel the urge to crap, you will be villified even quicker and more often. Patrick Ewing says hello...

There are nicer, gentler basketball media types in far off distant cities...

And the Jeter comparison doesn't work here. The Knicks never had a dynasty, going to the Finals almost every other year. Jeter was a freak of nature in a situation where the baseball coverage inside NYC is a media anomaly.
