i agree with this somewhat. i think america *was* ready for change and *was* ready to move forward but when presented with a fear campaign, they go back to their inner instincts and vote for what they really feel.
Only Part of America was ready for change. There's still a large swath of the Country that isn't. This is the typical American backlash to progress that we saw after Reconstruction following the Civil War! African Americans were making progress and the social order was changing so fast. That's why they created Terror Groups like the Ku Klux Klan and eventually Jim Crow for the next 100 years!!! After the Civil Rights success of the 60's you got Nixon. After Carter you got Reagan who used the Southern Strategy as well.

i think you can make a case that he's not mentally all there or has a behavior disorder. he also has all the tell tale signs of being a pathological liar. i wish there were some mechanisms in place to force public officials to take both a physical and mental exam before being able to run for office. the problem we are having here is folks rallying behind him w/o even trying to be objective. you feel immigration is a problem? fine. but the way this administration is handling this is totally incompetent. there is no real plan and things are not being thoroughly investigated and thought out. same with many of his other policies(?). that is what should be troubling his supporters.

a neuropyschologist friend who works at one of the best institutions in the country..... i won't disclose names to protect him/her. friend said that trump would fail eval for a normal sound mind and would probably be prescribed medication, therapy, in follow-ups. friend said there's several visual signs and behavioral signs that point to this.

America wanted changed and we need it, our nation is crumbling. Buttress this with the fact that a large majority of the members of our Congress and Senate are in it for themselves and are protected by Gerrymandering and so get elected over and over and over despite the fact that they continue to be overtly inept, corrupt, self-serving or just stupid. How does someone like Santorum get elected? Michele Bachmann? How does James Inhofe keep getting re-elected? How about Jeff Sessions?
So a majority of our voters latched onto the best con man out there, someone who indeed did promise a lot of change that seems to reverberate with the populous - "drain the swamp" - but that is not what this guy was capable or even intending to bring to the office of the presidency with him. He can't plan, does not have the work ethic or management capabilities to pull off anything, his previous style of business was bullying and intimation and failure after failure (we already know that his inheritance backed by an ungodly tax break is the backbone of his empire).
This is what we get when we are duped. The Republican party has duped America for a long time starting with Trickle Down Economics followed by unnecessary wars and buildup of military without similar expenditures on education, healthcare, infrastructure and investment in future.
