The whole country is founded and built on illegal immigration (followed by theft and genocide)! I don't get the moral high ground and outrage vs people who come here 'illegally'

Also, check out the drop in tourism- his presence has put off a lot of people 'legal' and 'illegal' alike from coming or wanting to come here. If you think that's a good thing, or that him being so obnoxious and unlikeable that people want to avoid the country is some sort of quality or achievement, then crack on!

We can agree that it might have. But border crossing numbers are influenced by a boatload of things. The economy in Mexico, the economy in the USA, the events that happen in other countries (like a dictator or group going on a killing/rape spree that influences families, women, etc to get the hell out). This is not straight forward stuff.

Do presidents influence stuff by their presence? Absolutely. Can we equate the rise of the KKK and white nationalism and the terror/cemetery destruction at Jewish centers on Trump.... slippery slope.

Moral high ground is now necessary to follow laws?

I can't comment on events between settlers and Native American Indians or its impact on illegal immigration as it stands today. We were founded on many things that have since been regulated to no end, immigration is no different.

Ok, there is likely an impact on tourism. If that's the cost for securing a better vetting process to help protect Americans, isn't it worth the cost?

i would say the run-up is b/c immigrants thought trump would win since avoiding getting kicked out would be easier than trying to get in.

This is what we get when we are duped. The Republican party has duped America for a long time starting with Trickle Down Economics followed by unnecessary wars and buildup of military without similar expenditures on education, healthcare, infrastructure and investment in future.

People in US and elsewhere are coming to realization that human society is driven by objective lows of behavior exactly the same as low of physics define the universe.
And as the "Law of conservation of energy" defines the physical world the "Law of Supply and Demand" defines how human societies work.
If society has demand for education, healthcare, infrastructure and investment in future, the supply will arise.
Politicians as well as any other humans cannot change the lows of the society same as we cannot change the lows of physics.
We can only understand them and use for our advantage.
If contrary we will try to work against this laws and run against the wind sooner or later we will be crashed and society will return to the stale the objective lows of its behavior dictate. Many nations tried and millions straggle and vanished in fight to reverse or alter this laws. No one obviously succeed.
Illegal immigration is a natural process produced by unfulfilled demand for workforce in US and as this demand will go down so will go down the supply.
America tried the hardest to build the society as close as possible to the objective lows of its behavior. And many other cultures and countries tried and still trying to twist it. That's why we have demand for military and that's why the isolationism grows.
Less our politicians do the better to keep society intact from unattended mangling into natural flow of things.

So the US prosecutor in NY who is putting away insider traders on Wall Street gets fired by Trump and Trump hires the Health Secretary who has been conducting insider trades himself..."Drain the Swamp"..

I wonder who made the call Carl Icahn or Lee Cooperman??

So the central government is effectively paralyzed...
Washington bureaucracy has nothing to do and as usual does nothing but without ability to present it as something.
And life in America and all over the world is going on like nobody's business...
I think Trump is already won in his main goal - prove that the Washington is a big comedy which just feeding itself.
The majority of US corporations are no better. Same clown show only on another scale.
With every passing days more and more people in US are getting it and so get liberated from this hypnosis.
Hopefully this will run long enough to make centralize power dismantling permanent in benefits of all.

maybe bringing back jobs really meant making sure millions of americans aren't healthy enough to work?

all the well off white folks that voted trump probably won't get impacted and voted knowing that. it's the "lock her up" crowd and the MAGA crowd that will feel the hit...as usual.

you may not have liked obamacare but at the core - it's about helping EVERYONE. that's the core value...that's what it was built on. execution wasn't great and obviously there's some financial behind the scenes reason for it but the theory at it's core, is commendable.

republicans have taken that and have made it a pure business decision for their financial backers. when someone tells you millions of people will lose coverage or not have enough money to pay for that coverage...while all the rich guys get a TAX BREAK, then you are getting F CKED.
