Right, the prospect of a president wanting to hold a military parade at his inauguration, the same kind used by countries like North Korea, the old Soviet Union, Nazi Germany,and Banana republics, doesn't bother you.

Its a matter of purpose and culture.
In Soviet Union army was like prison... and all country actually was.
In Israel all Jews regardless of gender, orientation, religion, or race considered military service as great privilege and inability to serve as a personal tragedy.
In US military service is a job occupation. There is no need for draft but everyone who feels patriotic can take on the job.
There are many other ways to support US army.
And this has nothing to do with political affiliation and Trumps or Obamas.

When I turned 18 and they came Ronny house I was disqualified because Of my Asthma which is very minor. I suppose running down the court playing basketball and serving in the military is to different animals. If they lift my disqualification I would gladly serve with pride

Agree with your perspective. Something along the lines of reserve duty could impart some sense of belonging, direction and patriotism to much of our youth.
Not sure about a military parade, guess it's all about how it's delivered and its intent. If its a celebration of their service then Im all for it. if its simply a display of force or any homage to trump then Im not. We have local parades that include servicemen and always found them a highlight and worthy of my applause more so than any politicians.
I thought the inaugural concert was uplifting and classy , the performance by Three Doors down was flat but rest of assembly stirred positive emotions. Voight's opening remarks were a bit much from my perspective. Though the CNN coverage was more even handed,. Maybe doing their part towards a peaceful transition or maybe somewhat whipped by derision

The distraught can cite some white supremacist conference but what I witness mostly in my travels in some southern states was a populist movement with civil people wanting change not deplorable. They saw our country shifting towards socialism and didnt like it. Yeh, they like clinging to their guns and religion

Yet the media and their followers continue to push the false narrative that republicans are evil and irredeemable deplorables ultimately helped elect President Donald J. Trump in 2016 and most likely again in 2020. Especially, with the way everything is going unless things change.
