I screamed at the TV when he inserted Melo for KOQ.

I had no problem with Baker in the game even with the couple of decisions he made he was a +8 in 15 mins in his 1st pressure situation of the season. Fact is the team was playing, moving, defending well and Jeff went to Melo -- subsequently things bogged down and mistakes made.

I could have lived with Melo for Lance but Melo for KOQ with Lance staying -- dang Jeff. If we were concerned with defending the perimeter bring C-Lee back in for Lance.

classic case of "downside"

I think one his strongest aspects of coaching is he gives guys burn. They get in and the know they arent getting yanked. I 100% agree he stayed with Baker waaaay too long. I think part of that was simply that group was playing well (despite Baker's limited contributions) and Jennings was not having a good night, so it was just a case of riding with what was working.

I also thought he should have gone back to Lee earlier. Lee has been fantastic on both ends of the court.

Tough loss before GS, but if they can win in Denver and come back 3-2 over a 5 game trip you sign up for that at this point in the season. I would expect us to win this type of game later on in the year, but 25 games in the coach is still feeling things out a bit.

The good of it all is we got nothing from Rose and Melo, and still were a KP jumper from getting a win at the end of regulation.

42 mins of prime KP wasted by some very poor decisions/play from Melo. Now you go get whupped by Warriors and Denver will be NO PICNIC and we will probably have to grind KP up close to 40 mins a game again next few nights.

His mins are too high for me right now -- his 7'3" unicorn feet/knees/legs not built for grinding -- he is a race horse and should be treated carefully.

so when KP shot 30 whatever % for a stetch of games how did the Knicks win? Because Melo (and Rose) had monster games. But if KP plays well and Melo struggles its "ruined KP's great game." Epic trolling dude. So lame.

Melo has career lows (or near to them) in FG%, rebs, assists... he's not having a good year. He's also not Jose Calderon. He's still the leading scorer on the team and if you actually watched has had not shortage of bigtime games and bigtime shots.

Waaa.. Melo ruined KP's good game. Yea man. I gotta go... Im gonna be late for homeroom.

The thing I don't like, is when guys struggle, they start taking even worse shots, this goes for KP, melo and Rose..Melo for all his struggles, put up some horrible shots, as if was hot to death (when every and anything falls).

that Jennings Turnover, (the stupid pass he gave melo running side by side of him) was the back breaker. kp's last foul that got him booted to the bench. This loss was a combination of a few mishaps.

More importantly, we struggle to handle speed ball teams, that space and shoot mega 3's

The difference is that KP dominates a game with his defense too. Melo hurts us on both ends when he's shooting and missing.

was i the only one waiting to erupt if Baker hit a big three. he was shaky at points but who can blame him. in the end he did a great job overall and it gives us another option. He's really not a pg though.

i hope i am the first to predict that Knicks beat GS in a shocker

they are different players! Do you run a mental dick measuring contest for these guys? Melo has 15 years of mileage. We are hoping for him to transition into a role where he steps back and does more other things in ways that a veteran can improve his team. Its CLEARLY a work in progress. KP is one of the leagues rising stars. The only similarity is they both play for the Knicks. How the phuck do you carry a resentment against a pro basketball player? And not just the person I am responding too... I mean this is why you follow a TEAM? Just go get KP's basketball card and post on his fan site. THIS IS A KNICKS BOARD. Phucks sakes!! Noah is having a terrible start also! I dont carry around like he's raped my phucking cat.

Hornacek has been great. I like that he isn't committed to subbing in and out at the same time and goes with the hot hand. Guys don't get minutes because of their names/contracts. Also, for a new group of guys they seem to have really come together as a group.
StarksEwing1 @ 12/15/2016 8:13 AM
Always like hornacek. Liked him as a player and liked him when he was with the suns.
HofstraBBall @ 12/15/2016 11:14 AM
Hornacek has done a great job. If we are going to be honest, his decision to play that group of players in the 4th got us back in the game. To criticize, in hindsight, leaving in a certain player for a minute too long is short sighted and typical for anyone with an unrealistic view of organized sports. He did a great job and we fell short with a couple of unfortunate plays.

Would agree. Big Melo fan but like the idea of rewarding good play and good rotations. No matter who sits. Felt we should have stayed with hot hands. But again, hindsight is 20/20. Specially when you look at several games earlier in the year, specially against Sac town where Melo hit a big shot in spite of not having a great game.

For this system, he might be the best point guard we have, for the triangle system.....especially on defense....similar to Charlie Ward......Dribble up and start the offense by passing it to Ewing. When they took Baker out, Bledsoe went nut. Baker has the perfect combination of size, lateral quickness and defensive IQ to guard most NBA PG's. I thought his defense was one of the keys to our come back.....Along with KOQ. I also thought Melo sat out way too long. At his age, if you plan on bringing him back in the game, he needs time to get a feel for the ball.....Watching KP on the sideline killing.....On a day he was struggling, was tough. Baker missed about 3 opportunities on offense, but made up for it on defense. It was a good learning experience for him.
