This guy has the talent to be an offensive superstar.. Not getting a chance. He would fit in nicely wth Kuz, KP, Willie. He was unbelievable in last yr rookie vs 2nd yr player game. Can play SG and SF. He could flourish under Hornachek

Not sure what Orlando is looking for? 2 #2's? Lance?
I'd rather see if they could get Aaron Gordon on the low. I have no idea why they are trying to use him as a 3 instead of a 4.ORlando always seem to give away players so who knows. They gave away Harkless, O'Quinn, and Tobias so maybe they will continue to be in the giving mood.

I would def give this a look. Vogel would love a guy like Lance Thomas. I would give up my next first rounder no lower than 15 (ever) and I think that ensures they get an extra pick back. Holiday is another guy that would fit with them and can actually shoot. They would surely want Kuz... do you do that? I know Mario is very young but isnt that the only thing making him a better prospect? Pure hope?
Tough call... I like this guy as a prospect for sure. Im not willing to give up much
So why are they giving up on him?
lance thomas for a lottery pick? sign me up! this would be a low risk high upside move by the knicks if they could pull it off. lets face it, consistency has been lance thomas' problem and he's not the youngest. hezonga on the other hand could blossom into really something. with rose, melo, kp he may not have to do as much initially as the expectation may be on him in orlando
I think they would be chasing a bit more than LT and a late first rounder. I dont really like him but he has talent.
His main problem seems to be defense. The Knicks coaches taught Kuz how to play D so fast that I have faith they would be able to help Mario. Offensively I like him as a fit with out Euro squad. Depending entirely on what we would have to give up to get him i'm down for a trade.

He's meant to be very arrogant, yet his game does not back it up at this stage- not a good combination, but I think it's mainly that he's been a bad defender and hasn't really shown elite performance at the offensive end to compensate.
I was high on him- he has a lot of ability. Have to admit that I kind of compared him to Pete Maravich.
If I remember correctly, one issue with him was whether he could fit well into a team structure...have a feeling this is the problem he is not dealing with.
As some mentioned, I'm not sure how interested he is in defending.
He didn't get a ton of minutes his last year in Europe- thought there was something going on between him and his coach. He did have some great offensive games at the end, though.
We were playing the Triangle last year...can't see Hezonja liking that kind of disciplined structure...would probably like what we have now, though- just wonder if he feels he has to be the alpha dog on any offense he plays in.

Sounds like he is still a major league project. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on a guy with his offensive potential, but offense isn't really a weakness for us right now. We need defenders, especially on the perimeter.
Knicks got Ron The American Mario. Keep the stable still until the trade deadline jitters is zen decision. Knicks are happening and winning now.

We shouldn't bring in any more players that don't play defense. Everyone of you should realize that our biggest weakness is defense and i'm hearing people wanting to give up guys like L.Thomas and J.Holiday which are two of our better defenders for a guy that doesn't play defense....SMH

No doubt about it we need to improve our defense. However the chance to acquire the talent of Mario at this point would be very nice. I never talked about trading Holiday. Definitely would trade Lance. Lance and #2? Sure. Lance is so bad on offense, can't play him and Noah together. Like playing 3 on 5 on offense. More Kuz into Lance role and bring in Mario , new situation and a lot of foreign players to play with. They say this guy is a dedicated worker. Huge ceiling on Mario.
I have heard that this guy has some attitude problems and feels a need to be number one option, in saying that though he was a top 5 pick so there is a lot of upside if you can get him for cheap.
Frank Vogel blatantly benched Payton, Vucevic, Jeff Green and Hezonja.... it's no secret he wants to trade all of them. He wants vets and he wants to play a certain style.
The Knicks could use all of those guys but we have to be very careful not to screw with the chemistry of the team. Any trade could make or break what we have going

So why do you think he isn't playing many minutes at all for the Magic?? He obviously has talent which he showed in the euro league but sometimes they just aren't able to translate that talent over to the NBA. I was a fan of his around draft time and thought he was gonna be a lights out shooter in the NBA and maybe he still will but i just don't see Phil going after a guy like that.

Yeah I agree, I like him, but doesn't seem like the Phil type of player and I'm completely baffled how a shooter like him is only avg 4 min pg.
