another disappointing game.

The team is floundering right now. TOmorrow night will be a blowout.

Jennings has been god awful recently and has lost his zest for playing. No more nice passing, just chucking shots.

Melo is not playing D again. Made SHill look like an all-star tonight. He is going through the motions now and the team looks like the same team since he has arrived. Up and down, no spark, no energy, no D, confused on O.

This is a critical time for the team. They need to regroup and start playing D.

If Tony Allen is available the should make the deal for him.

Agree about Jennings. Has he played well since he was starting for Rose. Also, if Lance's troubles are because of plantar fascia let him rest. He hasn't been helping. Holiday/Kuz should be able to cover those minutes.

I can't believe how far Jennings have fallen off from how he was playing. He's not making anything happen and his mistakes are more magnified. The Knicks are completely out of sync. They missed a BOATLOAD of easy shots tonight which shouldn't happen often so you can't really use this game to gauge anything.

Gotta pray for them tomorrow night.

Yeah. They need a win. The Wizards just got to .500 tonight. The Knicks are falling fast.

It's been a rough string of games- where is the passing from earlier in the season and the nice flow off the bench?
Is missing C Lee and Lance coming back stiff screwing our delicate chemistry? The energy is wrong right now.

I think Melo KP and Rose are playing selfish to show they are All star level players, we should get better after all star break i hope

I dobt think its selfishness but they are kinda trying to take it upon themselves to do it all and it leads to one on one. We have stopped running a lot of our plays too

smackeddog @ 12/31/2016 4:36 AM
And we've still got another big loss to Houston to go....
knickscity @ 12/31/2016 4:58 AM
The Knicks have been dreadful on the road so I don't see how anyone could be surprised at this loss. The fact that they have an outright refusal to play defense should be enough to expect more losses.
Knicks67 @ 12/31/2016 5:06 AM
We need to either make a move for defense, or have a plan B after this season. Because a team that can't play defense or win on the road isn't going to go anywhere sadly.
Knicksfan @ 12/31/2016 6:10 AM
The team is unraveling at every level. This is where they lose the season if they don't stop it:

-People said thid was Hornaceck's team a month ago. What is wrong? The players are acting like they don't believe in him. Why?

-Melo is unstable. Sometimes he moves the ball, tries to penetrate, plays D and the Knicks play well. Lately he hasn't done it much, reverting to the "ISO savior mentality that has sunk NY before.

-DRose is the wheel that moves everything, yet he is starting to suffer from Melo-ism from time to time.

-KP can't shine if he is forgotten by his teammates.

-Noah is getting better but it still looks like a bad move, unfortunately. He needs to keep getting there.

-Is Lee so important? We have looked like crap without our starting role player. This speaks more about how unstable we are as a team. Coach, can you talk about this?

-The bench has stopped shinning the moment Jennings decided to stop passing. Again, why moving away from the gameplan?

-Is there even a gameplan on D? Serious question.

All in all, we are a team blessed with inmense talent and cursed with selfishness and lack of focus. We had reached some level of unity and the record reflected it, but something has happened and everybody is looking for their own, sinking the Knicks further out of contention.

nyknickzingis @ 12/31/2016 8:22 AM
After this road trip we should have a good 5-6 winnable home games and 1 road game against Philadelphia in the next 10. So hopefully if pattern of season continues we can get back to a game or two over .500 maybe more.

Just not feeling the chemistry with this team. It's been a while now. Hornachek should consider making a change. I think .500 level ball is what this current rotation and starters can do.

We should consider subbing in OQuinn for Noah as starter.
Bringing Rose off the bench since he's an alpha scorer and the bench needs one more than Melo/KP.

If guys set their egos aside I think a better rotation would be

OQuinn/KP/Melo/Lee/Jennings
Noah/Melo/Lee/Holiday/Rose
KP/Thomas/Holiday/Rose/Jennings
Close with KP/Melo/Rose/Lee and the 5th player being the best fit for that night/situation.

Something along those lines. Jennings is playing awful but Rose is more effective for the team being the go to option carrying the team. We need someone that can carry the offense when Melo sits. Rose can do that. Rose can go to work as soon as he gets into the game. He is fit enough now that he can play 15-16 straight minutes.

I also like OQuinn starting as he's unafraid to shoot and stretch the defense. He brings energy like Noah, without all the shooting and scoring woes. Both OQuinn and Jennings bring energy to the starting 5.

We should try something different.

These Knicks have plenty of talent, but lack identity and motivation. This is the coach's fault. Hornacek is a great guy and a creative offensive mind, but a poor motivator, so it all gets lost. Time for him to go. Phil should take over if his health lets him. But ideally we need a freak hardass motivator like the old Riles.

i think we have enough potential motivators in a team, Melo, Noah maybe Rose ? But i think this is job for Melo and Noah

Also, if Jeff goes in season I think you see the return of Rambis. I am not fond of that scenario and I also think Jeff is a good coach.

I think it's strange how Jeff's identity as a coach is not the style they've been playing recently!!!
What hell happened to all the Ball and Player Movement??? This team has no resemblance to the way they had been playing. They've fallen into horrible habits. They need to switch up how they've been playing in these losses and get back to moving the ball 🏀

From the Posting and Toasting article.

Against the Pelicans Jennings shot 2-8, had a -38.3 efficiency rating (70.3 ORtg, 108.5 DRtg), got totally mixed up on defense, and dribbled the ball clean out of bounds under very little pressure.
