Knicks · I think one thing is obvious (page 2)

The next couple of years? Look how old Melo and Noah look , Rose could be gone at any time. I'm sorry but I think this roster has maybe a 1 year window where they can be pretty good and than its off the deep end

Knixkik wrote:Knicks just need to be smart, stay on course, and hopefully the chips fall in place for this team, as constructed, to make a little playoff noise the next couple years. Other than Cleveland, Boston, Toronto, and maybe Milwaukee, i don't see any other team preventing this group from being a top 5 or 6 seed the next couple of years, if things come together. This team isn't going to win a title. But we have our draft picks every season, which will land in the mid-1st round the next couple of years at least. Maybe one of them can land the next Giannis or Leonard, who both went 15 and 16 in their respective drafts. Odds are we won't, but there will be future all-stars available in the draft where we draft, we just need to find them. Just stay the course for now. We will add pieces as we go when the opportunity is there and hopefully surround KP with quality talent when he is ready to lead a team.

Melo is aging but he's putting up about the same numbers as he did his first full year in NY. Porzingis will continue to grow as melo declines. Rose, if resigned, will remain at this level for a couple more years at least. Noah is done, I agree, but willy and o'quinn are better anyways. In 2 years I fully expect kp to be a 24 and 10 guy. Melo and rose can get there 15-17 ppg as 2nd and 3rd options. Hopefully melo cuts out the iso crap because he's still one of the best catch and shoot players in the league. That shouldn't change.

So all we need are vocal leaders who aren't volume scorers, who make everyone around them better defensively. Got it.
Not a HOF PF/SF who's flirting with triple doubles, and not the first PG we've had in years who can actually get to the basket at will.

Funny, even LeQ and his selected super friends squads needed at least one season to get their sheehit together. And we aren't even sniffing that level yet.

Let's all keep concentrating on beeyatching full bore on getting new and shiny things.

+1. Continuity is key. Even if it doesn't lead to a title, the ability to compete for the playoffs is more valuable than jumping up a few spots in the draft board, thats for sure.

No, No, No!!! You're not getting the idea! The Hinkie Philly model, that's the way to go! Stockpile those draft picks!! Keep picking up savior after savior so that you've always got another 5 year plan, dammit!!!

MCW, Noel, now OK4... it's so much fun to try and have more 1st rounders than wins...
