Kristaps is going to be our #1 fir the next 12 God willing... who's coming for the ride?

Hermangomez and Ron Baker I think you can pencil in. KOQ and Kuz could ride along the next few years... who's going to be that small fwd to rock with KP and the gang? I would love to get a kid that could get out and slash. I winner aloud if that kid Kelly Oubre from Washington is available. Or any one else of similar size athleticism and youth.

I project Ron Baker to be Bob Sura or like Courtney Lee. There's always potential for more but the kid isn't a true point to guard. He's like Hornacek used to be. Horny could run the point more than adequately but it's nice to have that second true lead guard with him. We kinda let Randle go but there are other fish in the sea. The point guard position is a revolving door in this league.

Can you think ahead? How do you want to build around KP... we can't wait till he's in his prime to decide who were going to put around him

It's difficult at this point to really gauge what we'll do or need going forward. Obviously once you have a big you want that lead guard that can run the show and make things easier. We could also hope for a forward that has PG like skills and then you could play with a scorer like Rose and not really suffer. After experiencing Jason Kidd it's clear that you can find success with a SG/SF that has PG skills alongside a slashing Combo Guard like Rose. No one is coming to mind right now but I remember there was some interest with a big guard like Denzel Valentine coming out of last draft. We see that whenever Melo turns into DadMelo it makes a HUGE improvement, but he doesn't stay in that mode so a player that has that natural inclination would be better.

I think OG Anunoby would look really nice next to KP. Anunoby reminds me of Kawhi. Perfect complement to KP imho. Also would work perfectly to play next to a declining slower Melo for a few years. KP - OG - Melo frontcourt for the next few years would not be bad.

I'm not opposed to keeping Jennings around for the next few years as we rebuild either. I like CLee, I like Willy, I like Baker, I like Kuz.

My guess is that when KP and this team really gets good, there will be a lot of names we've never even heard involved.

Yes, OG or Miles Bridges, both nice combo forwards should be available in the late lottery. Willy, Baker, Kuz, Holiday, and O'Quinn are all 27 year old and under keepers. Front court is set for the long-term. Finding the right guards is really key. Baker and Holiday project as long-term quality reserve guards. Both bring hustle, solid defense, and 3-pt shooting. Lee does his job so he is a good rotation player for the next 3 years of his contract.

I'm not targeting any major moves for the next few years, and not giving any contracts to over-25 players beyond 3 years, which is the duration of the Noah and Lee deals. Draft well the next few years, look for some diamonds in the rough via free agency, and then try to make a big splash in free agency when the big contracts drop off, and you have a 24 year old Porzingis ready to lead a team. But we will already have a solid group at that point, so not going all-in with free agency. We will build around our young star, and get this thing right. Remember, finding the star to build around is the hardest part, and we have that.

I would like to discuss this further. What can we learn about Sacramento's and New Orleans lack of success building around their star big men?

The first thing for me is their failures of putting another big man next to them in the starting lineup. Both are better off with a stretch 4 next to them. I like Willy and O'Quinn long-term, i think they bring some nice things off the bench, but maybe not as starters next to Kristaps.

Kuz and Lance are decent combo guards who can make open 3s. That is valuable. Adding OG or Bridges gives an eventual starter that fills that combo forward role.

Lee, Holiday, and Baker are quality role players who can stay.

Jennings is a decent stopgap, but ultimately will need a new PG down the line. Not sure if we will be bad enough to get one of the elite PGs in the draft. So we might need to find another way. But Jennings isn't terrible in the mean time.

Melo can be along for the ride as a complimentary scorer if he choses. It's proven he only helps KP.

Who can we sign in the offseason that fits a role around KP long-term?

What would you think of Michael Carter-Williams. He's young, a good tall defender and from what I remember he could slash to the rim. Obviously he can't shoot but I think he could be had for a reasonnable price.

Possibly, but i think the shooting is a major issue. I don't think he is as good as Jennings.

I would like to resign Jennings (if no elite PG is available) and sign Ian Clark. Run with Jennings, Clark, and Baker. The latter 2 can play together and play PG by committee. Both can shoot and defend either backcourt position. All 3 are young. This is also assuming we can't land one of the top PGs in the draft. That would change everything.
