Looking at the standings, I think we can climb all the way up to 4th- beyond that gets tough, the last couple of wins really hurt us:

Mavs and Heat are at 4th and 5th with a record of 16-30, we're on 20-27. We definitely can't tie with the Nets, whoa re at number 1 with a pitiful 9-36 record (and no pick!), also very unlikely we end up with a worse record than the Lakers (they are highly motivated to tank, because if they don't get a top 3 pick they have to give it up AND then have to give up their 2019 pick too. Doubt we match the Suns either.

I love this guy. Hes going to be something in between Marcus Camby and Tim Duncan--already has incredible footwork at 19 years old yet he has exceptional athletic ability and speed--two end player

i agree again briggs. excellent prospect

Maybe if the Melo deal goes through, we move Redick for a first rounder- what number do you see him going?

Tankathon has him going at #13.

I am going to be a realist and use common sense. I said Luke Kennard reminded me of Chris Mullin 2 months ago. The guy isn't sexy but he's a great 2 guard who can play the style of basketball the nba plays now. I know the Knicks will be in between 12-17 and the three names I like are Bridges Kennard and Payton. In fact if we do trade melo and only end up with another mid range we can work with it this year

keep your eye on deaaron fox (if he plays). most likely the knicks will fall into a pick around 12-16th range. he might be available. super athletic left pass first PG who CANT shoot. hies basically a younger b.jennings with upside

I highly doubt Fox falls to us but he is a great prospect for sure.

I was a big fan of Fox to start the season but I'm not sure he is big enough to play meaningfully in the pros. The skill is there but there is a physicality to the game that just can't easily be discounted and has spelled doom for very skilled/talented yet diminutive players e.g. Shane Larkin, Andre Barrett, Pierre Jackson, Jonny Flynn, etc. I think Malik Monk has the same issues and will inevitably slide in the draft.

As a side, Josh Jackson is the real deal and I do hope we walk away with either he or one of the Tier 1 PG prospects. He needs to fix the mechanics on that jumper of his though.

He is 6'4. He just needs to hit the weight room more and put on a few. His 3pt shooting is the biggest concern imo

And that's what I thought heading into today's contest. Then I saw him in proximity of other opposing guards and felt he was no bigger than 6"2' Devonte Graham and not much taller than 5"11' Frank Mason III. I wonder if Fox is suffering from a bad case of Elton Brand and has had his heigh overexaggerated.

Have you looked at the standings?:

We're on 21-27 for the 11th pick. The 5th pick is held by the Magic who are 18-30, we're only 3 wins ahead of them and still have just under half a season to go. Miami are also on 18-30 and seem to be on a bit of a winning roll at the moment. We can easily make 5th if we want to, I think even if we didn't have a fire sale. Factor in if we do move Melo and Rose and any vet with value and we could climb higher.

However I think it will be extremely difficult to catch any of the top 4- Nets we have no chance of matching (9-38), and the other 3 are very unlikely- Suns (15-32), Lakers (16-34) and Mavs (16-30).

So we have a good shot at finishing at no.5, and who knows, maybe we get lucky in the lottery and climb a few spots.

smackeddog @ 1/31/2017 3:33 AM
A very good night for draft positioning- Heat, Sixers and Mavs won. Now we're (21-28) just 3 wins ahead of the Mavs (18-30) who hold the 4th spot. Sixers seem to be winning a lot and so bizarrely have the Heat, who I thought were finished- Dion Waiters of all people won player of the week and is playing out of his mind- they've won 8 in a row! We're only 2 wins ahead of them.
BRIGGS @ 2/1/2017 1:05 PM
Top 5

1 Faultz(by a good margin)
2 Monk
3 Ball
4 Smith
5 Patton

I like De'Aaron Fox a lot. He's bigger than Jennings, and I think a better playmaker. His shot is a problem though.

I think our pick will likely be in the 6-10 range, but if we really tank we can get to the 4/5/6 range.
