I dont think there is much in the way of argument. It might not come off the board like that--but thats my personal feelings if we get the top 3.

Right now i go

1. Ball
2. Fultz
3. Smith
4. Fox
5. Monk
6. Jackson
7. Isaac
8. Ntikina
9. Tatum
10. Bridges

3 point shooting from the guard position is a high level prerequisite but I like Fox enough to take him 4 or 5.

I completely agree. I think shooting is essential. I do think, however, that because of the focus on his poor shooting, he has become somewhat underrated. He is the fastest player in college basketball, probably the best ball handler, and probably has the best defensive potential of all of the PG prospects. On top of that, i don't think his shot is completely broken, and i expect him to become a passable 3pt shooter in his career. I think he has some serious potential that is overlooked. His freshman year numbers are very similar to what John Wall's were, and he has similar speed with the ball. He's also a great finisher around the basket. Sometimes we focus so much on one weakness, that we forget what a good basketball player looks like. But we agree he is probably top-5 for the knicks, and i think he likely falls outside of the top 5 overall, which is a good thing.

yellowboy90 @ 2/10/2017 6:02 PM
I'd take Isaac #3 and not lose any sleep. I think he will be able to have a Giannis type offensive game but with a 3pt shot included. If he ever fills out his frame like Giannis then the sky is the limit to his all around game.

smackeddog wrote:I know we need a PG, but is Josh Jackson good enough to consider taking?

i dont think so...josh jackson is m.kidd gilchrist at best - corey brewer at worst. amazing athlete who plays electrifying defense and can pass. problem is he really really cant shoot

BRIGGS @ 2/10/2017 6:36 PM
The only SF I would take within 10 is Tatum. I like the way he handles the ball. He reminds me a lot of Paul Pierce.

i concur. to be honest he reminds me a lot of melo. entered the NBA with mid range game but with time that could be expanded

YES! The Kings beat the Hawks and that's great for our draft position. I didn't think they would pull it off but they did. So the Lakers, Sixers, Pels, Mavs and Kings won their last game. Knicks are falling right into position with a few more losses.

Just Spurs and OKC to go before the all star break- hopefully 2 more losses then we ship out Melo and Rose and have a fresh start centred around our young players development
BRIGGS @ 2/11/2017 10:18 AM
We need some tough guys too. You can be 150 pounds and tough--but we need leaders and toughness on a team that is mentally weak. Were not a guard away from beating another team--were a whole culture away.

Yeah I may have been a bit too quick with the updated standings. I know it's painful to some fans but given the rarity of this team even having 1st rd picks and the strength of this draft, I think it's the only way to go for this team.

wargames @ 2/11/2017 11:50 AM
I like Ntilikina a lot for us. If the Knicks keep Lee I think he would be a great guard to spot the 1 & 2 spots. Also unrelated but how much money will the Knicks have this FA? I feel like they will have a max contract? I hope they don't waste it on a PG in their prime. Split it up and pick up pieces or overpay a young guy who might earn it.

Once I've accepted we're losing I do actually enjoy thinking ahead to the draft- I enjoyed the KP draft and the run up to it. Not having a pick was the worst during all those other losing seasons. At least with a pick you have something to look forward to and invest in.

BRIGGS @ 2/11/2017 12:30 PM
in the process of learning about these kids I'm taking into account the leadership and intangibles of Lonzo Ball and now rate him pick # 1 I don't just want talent on the Knicks I want winners who have a certain mentality and intangibles
smackeddog @ 2/11/2017 12:33 PM
I do like Josh Jackson's game, a shame we couldn't get the Nets pick off Boston, would have been great to add a PG and him.

Also good to hear the intro music again on these vids!:

smackeddog @ 2/11/2017 12:36 PM
A vid of Malik Monk, since Briggs is so high on him and a few mocks have us taking him:

Yeah but I still like his overall talent. Usually fast Athletic kids tend to rely on that and not focus on their shooting enough.

TPercy @ 2/11/2017 6:33 PM
Hopefully if New Orleans and Dallas both win their games then we could be in position for a top 7 pick.

I really dig Monk, but he can be too one dimensional at times, kind of like THJR. It would be great to get him though. If we can offload Melo, then I think Jayson Tatum ought to be a priority unless we somehow land Fultz, Smith, or Ball. He looks like a cross between Melo and Tobias Harris with more willingness to pass.

Briscoe would be a great second round pick up.

BRIGGS wrote:Watching kentucky. Fox game jumper is really bad

yep. its bad. but inh igh school he would have these breakout games where he'd score 10 threes. i would hope for at least a "Streaky" player but so far at kentucky he has NOT shot it well

smackeddog @ 2/12/2017 3:30 AM
Sixers win, Mavs win, we've moved up to 8th!
BRIGGS @ 2/12/2017 7:35 AM
After that performance yesterday Josh Jackson is going to jump above Tatum and Smith. In fact I bet he will get consideration all the way up top. These are the type of play and games the pro scouts weigh on. 2 way clutch efficient effect on game handling skils at 6-8. I guarantee some teams now have him as prospect 1 and no later than 3
