are we gonna give 30 points to the 76ers in the first quarter after all that talk of defense?? so far Melo's D has been suspect

Defense looks better but after KOQ's last dunk, Melo was giving Saric 5 feet on the 3 point line and he drained it. There's no excuse for that; he's a shooter. If I were Horny, I would take Melo out of the game right after that. We need accountability on defense.

perimeter defense is always better when KP and noah sit, those 2 are the worse i ever seen, i'm talking Amare bad..

Bench KP too after the Ilyasova wide open 3 for a couple minutes, then put him back in. These guys need to know that if they don't defend, they're coming out. Condition them this way.
let's be clear that the 76ers do not have 30 points in the first because their big men cant make a layup. they had several opportunities and couldn't convert. i'd chalk that up to 76ers being inept as opposed to Knicks D.
we are playing the 76ers, the IQ on that team is a 2
I really have grown frustrated with the Knicks offense!!! They should be putting WAY more pressure on teams but this is STILL based on Triangle but a weaker version of it. Rather than playing FAST and AGGRESSIVE we actually make it easier for teams to defend.
If not for Rose being able to drive on his own, Melo ISO and some offense inside from KOQ we'd have nothing going. We need WAY MORE Screens and picks to get guys easy shots!!! Melo got a nice Down Screen from Noah earlier and he got a great open look. We need more of that.

Why we do it only once in 3 games I don't know. But that's the energy this team should always play with.

Point was that you have to look at overall effort more than lapses.
Holiday had a wide open lane and pulls up for a brick, his IQ is also low as hell
Guess what, team is contesting all shots, fighting through screens, getting back on D and we have allowed 27 with under 10 minutes left in 2nd. It's possible to defend, and that's how you win, btw.

Effort. They are giving effort on both sides. This team most of the year gives effort towards offense not much on defense. In the last 10-13 games effort on offence has slipped as well.
So far today we have effort ... that's all I want from the vets.
