Knicks · Where is the Phil Jackson man up pr? (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 1/15/2017 5:02 PM
1/2 the season done and he can't give all these loyal fans who spend millions of dollars in tix and cable cost the time of day about horrible status of team?
magicTs @ 1/15/2017 5:08 PM
It's an absolute disgrace Briggs. I've spent several thousand dollars on tickets for my family already this season. Yet the man who takes a million a month is awol, rarely seen and never heard. The contempt with which the Knicks as an organization take their fans for granted is disgusting especially given the complete lack of any success. It's not like we were the Yankees and overcharging, they have at least had major success! There is only one route to go with this roster now and that's to blow it up. Jackson is paid to make these crucial decisions. We will definitely lose at Boston on Wednesday so a defeat to Atlanta tomorrow will bring this whole thing to the boil later this week in my opinion.
franco12 @ 1/15/2017 5:17 PM
8 of the next 10 are against teams ahead of us in the standings.

We probably lose 8 of 10.

And then we're suddenly on pace to finish worse than last year.

I'd argue Phil needs to say something to both take the pressure off the mental midgets that are our roster- and then challenge these guys to step up the rest of the way.

BRIGGS @ 1/15/2017 5:45 PM
When you spend 200 mm$ and you're 5 games behind last years pace explanations are needed
arkrud @ 1/15/2017 5:57 PM
When we will be in the lottery everyone on this board will price the only man who saw the light...
Vmart @ 1/15/2017 6:24 PM
Phil doesn't need to speak it is what it is. What is talking to fans gonna accomplish nothing.
Bonn1997 @ 1/15/2017 6:33 PM
The only thing that should be surprising is how many games the team won early in the season. Phil is lousy but he's just a symptom of many bigger problems that predated him by about 10 years.
BRIGGS @ 1/15/2017 6:41 PM
Usually when you spend 200 mm and in this case much of it on defensive players you'd like to see reasonable improvement. Instead we've seen a material drop off with massive defensive deficiency and loss differential.

Usually yes but the knicks almost never get their money's worth in deals.

I am so convinced that any veteran that comes here is just here for the check. This team just can't keep going this route. We need a youth movement and that is the only way out of this. Forget the vets get back to losing and lose big. Pile up assets and hope we find another talent to grow with KP. The veterans are useless don't bring them don't want them. They can't help.

The veterans as a solution of course not.
The veterans as a complimentary peaces to improve the team of course yes.
But first we need to have a team which can be improved.
54-win season was the only one in 20 years when it was played right with limited expectations which were exceeded by large margin.
Then it was time to blow it out and reset but they decided to do zombie Apocalypse instead.
Now even zombies are dead.

You can't build a team and expect the vets to play 40 mins per for full season..Can't build half a team..
holfresh @ 1/15/2017 10:10 PM
With all the stuff now swirling around the team, how can Phil stay silent..
CrushAlot @ 1/15/2017 10:46 PM
I think he needs to give Melo a call to smooth things over and clarify whether the opinions in Rosen's column are his or just Rosen spouting off.

IMHO it's never just Rosen spouting off. He would never jeopardize his access to Phil. Anything he says is Phil approved.

Phil has a 90s understanding of media in 2017. It's not good.

I don't think its about talking to the fans - its about trying to get his team message/motivation through the media.

All he has to do is take some ownership of the situation- say that he thought they would be better, and still have the players backs and say he believes in them and feels like they will improve.

That takes pressure off them, but still challenges their professionalism to try to improve.

Now - I think its fair to wonder if that kind of message will work with this group of heartless faux stars.

He's not paid $12m a year to just go to the games. He's supposed to lead the organization. He hasn't spoken publicly about the Knicks in months.

Great move on his part. Why would he want to take on questions about Noah's contract. 4 years to Lee, now on the bench. 4 years to Lance, who was and is hurt. Bringing on a perfect Triangle guy in Rose. Better to mumble under his breath about Melo to the press and let him take the flack. Nobody ever said Phil was stupid.

Well he did announce his breakup with his "gal" in the press recently..
