Knicks · Melo trade idea: Chicago (page 1)

EnySpree @ 1/25/2017 11:48 PM
I'm looking at Rondo....

We keep talking about Rubio. Truth is Rubio has horses on his squad in Minnesota and his numbers are still the same. He's soft and can't score.

Rondo is hard as hell. He's the pass first pg we need. He's the veteran we need. Hornacek wants to play pick and roll. Rondo wants to do that as well.

We trade Rose...or Jennings...or not. Rondo at the point Rose at the 2? Rose off the bench? Rose flipped for another player?

KP and Willy are our future. Rondo will get them the ball.

KP
Kuz
Willy
Rondo
Possible upgrade at the 2?

????

Give Rondo the ball and get guys moving the ball... I bet we start winning almost immediately

nixluva @ 1/25/2017 11:54 PM
The one thing I know Rondo will do is PASS THE BALL. This team is desperate for a PG that will make the game easier for our scorers. I actually prefer Rubio because he's not a pain, he's younger and a Euro that will vibe with the other young Euro's. Still Rondo is another option if we still want to try and make this work.

Tell me how you think it's gonna go with Rondo when we're losing games all the time? He can't be a good teammate on a good team. Talk about a player that can ruin the young players on a team and kill any kind of chemistry there is on a team. I'd much rather have Rubio.

Chandler @ 1/26/2017 10:29 AM
don't want rondo. that's desperation talking. (agree he's skilled passer, but he's not a system player and too risky for chemistry)
Welpee @ 1/26/2017 10:35 AM
Yeah, I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Rondo had issues in Boston, Dallas, Sacramento and Chicago. No reason to think he'll be a problem here too. smh
Cartman718 @ 1/26/2017 10:42 AM
someone is getting traded before the deadline i am sure of it.
NYKBocker @ 1/26/2017 10:51 AM
Rondo is a very good pass first PG that defends, but his team chemistry killing ways is too much for this team to handle.
Vmart @ 1/26/2017 10:58 AM
I would have to get back Valentine from the Bulls.

He has actually been a really bad defensive player the last few years.

Would be nice to get Lopez back....

With Willy emerging, i really don't think we have a need for him anymore.

Rondo's defense has slipped he may be better than Rose, but Rose can at least match his opponent's production on offense. You're really hoping that Rondo's playmaking could provide a boost to the rest of team. He's been really flaky the past few years tho...

We've seen what happens at almost every stop he's made. When Rondo isn't happy, he doesn't care how his behavior affects the team, he will burn the house down to make a point. What are the odds that he will do it in NY? I would say very good considering the state of the franchise right now.

Wouldnt go that far. Willy isn't the defender that Lopez is. Haven't really followed him this season, but he has been historically one of the best interior defenders and offensive rebounders, in the league. Our defense has regressed badly without him. In time Willy could be that guy, but he cant do it alone. Noah and KOQ arent the answer IMO. Good luck trading Noah though.

doesnt melo have a no trade clause? if he lifts it, why would he want to go to a mediocre chicago team?

Very true. The Rondo from the title contending Celtics left the building many years ago.

Rondo will pass the ball as long as its on his terms. Rondo is/was best when he could dominate the ball and make decisions on his own on the court. Even in Boston he clashed with his teammates (particularly Ray Allen). He's a ball dominant guard who doesn't have the athleticism anymore to do what he do early on in Boston. If he isn't meshing well with Wade and Butler how is he going to mesh with Melo?

We would be trading him for Melo.

The overall consensus is concern about his attitude. I agree.... but it's an easy way to shift the focus. We need to get our big men the ball. That's all Rondo wants to do. There's potential on both sides. It also allows the Knicks to move Rose because we won't have a use for him. We could use his contract to get an upgrade to the 3 or the 2.

This. I think the fact that they have talked with the Cavs, Clips and Celtics means Melo gave them a list of teams he would consider. Also, I don't think Rondo would be good on the Knicks. I keep thinking about the podcast where they talked about Rondo parking in Rick Carlisle's parking spot everyday on purpose when things weren't going well on the Mavs.

I know a "team" that Rondo would fit on.

It would have on it, Lee Marvin, Ernest Borginine, Telly Savalas, Charles Bronson, Donald Sutherland and Jim Brown.

Rondo is a narcissist who would turn the locker room into a war zone, you want to develop Zinger with this guy around?

Rondo would be great in a movie, where the mission is a suicide run against all odds. Because in Rondo's world, everyone else is in orbit and just passing through "his world"

If you want Zinger to pair up with an unstable psychotic, then just tell the kid to get married. No need to give him Rondo.
