We have 3 picks. Let's really focus on getting 3 physical athletes and then go all in on an nba pro pg in free agency. We need defense and 3 point shooting but we lack physical athletes A realistic outline
Let's say position 10 45 and 58
10 Miles Bridges f 6-7 240 45 Dillon Brooks g 6-7 225 59 zeek woodley g 6-3 215
Nba Jru Holiday 6-4 200
We'd improve the athletiscm on the team 5 fold have 3 new 3 point shooters all big physical athletes and have the free agency to find the quarterback. It will take way to long to draft a pg and let him develop.

Stop Briggs. Go read your other thread about Holiday.
Yes, lets pick up some youth and start to build out our talent.
We desperately need a top 5, not top 10 talent in this draft.
But we're bad, and we'll be bad next year.
Retain jennings at a discount, but keep the money in the bank. We're already stuck with big bad contracts with Melo, Noah, Lee & Thomas.
Keep flexibility because if you blow it this off season, you've eliminated any chance to do anything the following year unless Melo opts out - and I don't see Melo opting out!

I'm trying to be realistic. We are no where near a top 5 pick. Improving weak spots with our draft picks-- defense athletiscm 3 point shooting should be a draft priority . Drafting and developing a pg takes to long.

CLee and Lance contracts are not bad. They have value and I can see them getting flipped for picks or younger players

Briggs-
Theoretically, from the few times that I've seen him play, I do think a Miles Bridges pick at #10 would be a good get for this team. I'm just not sure what his NBA position would be. I view him more as a SF slasher type.
Also, while I totally agree with you that the Knicks desperately need a QB, I think that Jrue Holiday as a max player would be an overpay. But, that's what the Knicks do....over and over and over again.
With our boatload of assets, having the best young coach and the shrewdest and most patient GM/Owner in the league, it's a great time to be a Celtics fan.

Bridges is a great option if none of the PGs are available. He's an elite athletic SF who can shoot and defend and make plays. He would be a top 5 pick in most drafts based on his potential. Would be a great pickup and longterm SF to complete the front court with KP and Willy.

We're only 2.5 games out of a top 5 pick; we have a great shot of getting one.

M.Bridges is the guy i see mocked to us in just about every mock draft i've looked at do far.

And that's precisely why we don't get him.

We've sucked for a decade+ and we're likely to suck for the next decade.
I'm not saying we have to tank to get a top five pick - just that we desperately need that.
Our plan has to be working to build a group that in 2-3 years, can have the foundation where bringing a player in like Holiday @$20m makes sense, because we're set with the roster and need to tweak our roster, and find an impact player in a certain area.
BRIGGS@ 2/6/2017 12:58 PM
Nah Id spend up on Jru Holiday--Im not worried about money spent there. You cant not sign players because you feel youre only at a certain level.
I would take a PG in the draft if he were available(considering who it is) but we also need help desperatly fixing our defense and adding athletic ability/three point shooting.
The two most under rated players in the draft from what I can see are Caleb Swanigan and Dillon Brooks--if we can trade up a bit in rd 2 or even low 1 to secure Brooks--I would do it. Lastly we are a team that does not have much in terms of a 3 point specialist. At 58 Ive kind of thought about a few players but forgot who Iwas touting the last two years--Zeek Woodley. Hes been hurt all year but hes a high level 3 point shooter who has a body and athletiscm of Mitch Richmond. This would be a keen pick by the Knicks---hes going to be a good role player in the NBA and thrive in how they play now. A very rare 50+90=20 player who also has a 40 inch vertical.
Woodley
Brooks

don't forget those March madness guys like buddy who surge in the eyes of all in the tournament. And..... Those Euro's not on our radar until the season is over and the hype starts. Nobody talked about KP in Feb.
And super mario and Mundiay? These guys are not what many thought they were.
Here how you do it.
George hill taken 30th, Use him, then when his value soars and you don't want to pay him, plus you have HOF Tony Parker in front, you trade him for the 15th pick to Indy. with that pick, you take Kwahi Leonard from San Diego Freaking State, and develop him and perhaps one has the best player on the planet not named Lebron James.
Look at Harden, with the right coach is now MVP. Westbrook is a stat machine but Im not sure how far that team can go, but he the 4th pick and still needed a few years of seasoning. The chemistry he has now WITHOUT Durant is notable. Are they a better team, or he a better star?
GoNyGoNyGo@ 2/6/2017 2:41 PM
Jru is too injury prone. He is good but too often out of action.

I like Holiday a lot, but this is a legit issue. Its been 5 years since he's sniffed a full season of games
