let's say melo averges 30 points per game next 24 games and hits 2 game winners, we'd probably have a mid first round draft pick. Maybe this would be better than tanking? cause melos trade value would be up. Maybe we could get the Nets pick then from boston?

I suspect he goes on a run. He often does this time of year and decides to play really hard when we are all but out of it. I mean all we can do is play it straight. There is certainly no downside to him playing well aside from getting hurt in our draft position but we kind of know thats a forgone conclusion.

Its a really deep draft. If Melo's play kills our draft pick thems the brakes. I am sure some will blame Phil for not enforcing a benching of Melo to ensure a good pick but those in the real world know thats not an option.

I don't know. I think if he was going to be traded, it would have happened already.

You think he is just going to ride it out while we rebuild?

While dealing with Boston would be ideal. I think a trade with the Clippers can be beneficial for all parties involved.

Melo will be the only avenue the Clippers can improve. And will be the only high caliber player they can acquire for low value. There is no way Melo would turn down going to LA to play with CP3, Griffen & Jordan.

What the Knicks need to look for is a lesser version of what Boston got from the Nets. Rivers and Crawford to make the salaries work. Just and example: 2020 first rounder, Right to swap in 2021, 2022 first rounder.

I'm still hopeful the Clips will trade for him in the offseason- they aren't giving up much, plus they would have the MLE to replenish their depth. Plus they will no longer be hard capped, making a trade slightly easier to work numbers wise.

I think our only hope is if Blake Griffin decides he wants out of LAC and then kinda forces them to S&T with us... that's really the only way I see him moving, or possibly if Love shits the bed in the playoffs (but I think that's a lot less probably than Blake).
