NOPE!!! At this point I have no interest in this team making the playoffs. I think they had their chances earlier and just let it slip away. Now I root for a competitive game and a LOSS. They're just too close to a top 5 pick at this point. Just a couple of games separate the from the top 5 in the Lottery. With the talent in this draft i'd rather go that way.
The Knicks have to go 17-5 to finish at .500 - 41-41

The draft is the best way of adding elite talent, locked in on a cheap contract, and then extended- you can keep them for 9 years easy. The higher your pick, the greater your chances. How would you improve the team without it next season?
The fan in me wants them to win every game, but I can't dispute the fact that losing is probably the best thing right now. Our last pick was KP6 and that seems to be working out.

Last night was perfect - missing a buzzer beater to narrowly lose the game. Love it!
Would have SUCKED if it went in, like the shot against the Sixers.
Never nice as a fan to think this way but really hoping for good performances and defeats to both the Magic and 76ers this week. We could find ourselves below both quickly with the Warriors to come at the weekend.
See what the Sixers were doing since Hinkie era? I do not think building through the draft is the right way.

Sixers drafted badly and failed to add role players or show the abilty to build a coherent team. If they'd been smart they could have had a team of:
C- Embiid
PF- KP instead of OK4
SF- Giannis Antetokounmpo (or CJ McCollum for SG) instead of Noel
But according to you they would have been better off not getting high picks and instead.... er.... how were they otherwise suppose to add talent?

if nixluva says this then it confirms that the knicks should tank.
1st the knicks DONT deserve to make the playoffs cuz theyre a bad team
2nd, theyre not going to make the playoffs cuz theyre a bad team - too much ground to cover
3rd, in the long run making the playoffs and swiftly being eliminated in the 1st rd means nothing
Lastly, theres too much talent in the draft to acquire. take the L for the season, get a nice pick to pair with KP for the next decade

Instead of endlessly bitching and moaning about the sad state of the Melo era (oh wait, I obviously mean "error"), what might have happened if we had actually aggressively gone after real, existing stars to go with Melo, instead of daydreaming about how the Hinkie method of chasing the next shiny new "thing" out of March Madness is going to solve all ills. When it has been factually proven not to. Or putting together squads of low-cost pieces of end of the line geriatrics, or trading away all 1st rounders for the likes of Bargs, or only being able to attract flash in the pan Linwonders or bonehead wierdos like JR Smith and FluTyson? Or tanking by spending a season watching a group of NBDL rejects and Lou Amundson? And what did we get for tanking? A slightly fragile unicorn who has yet to take us anywhere.
Holding to the Hinkie model gets you what the SacTown model gets you. A history and legacy of suhucking and hoping your lottery dreams come true someday. There's much more to NBA basketball than the draft and some role players. If you don't get that by looking at the teams that have won and continue to win, I don't know what to tell you.

The Warriors are built on the core of drafted players. It's not all they've done to build that team but it forms the base on which they built. The reason many wanted to get another high pick is to build our own base of top tier talent on which to build.
In any event that looks like it's over now. If this team starts to play up to its potential then they will win games and be outside of the top 10 forget about top 5 in the draft. Not the end of the world but a major blow to the future of the team. Just gotta hope we get lucky with lower draft picks.

did you forget draymond green was pick 35..you have just as good of chance drafting a stud in the top 5 as you d0 in the bottom 10 of the 1st round..and good chance in the top of the 2nd..

Outs extremely lucky to find guys tart deep in the draft. The Knicks already found Willy, baker and chasson.... their story is stl being written but can we continue that streak?
I'm not really worried anymore. I want to get a high pick but there's alot of guys im this draft that aren't even in the popular mock draft boards. We'll be fine

No you don't- do you not understand how odds work?! If I pick top 5 I have access to nearly every player in the draft. If I pick 30, I have access to 29 fewer players. To fall to 30 a player must be overlooked by every team in the league. How do you think that you have the same chance if drafting a stud?!
