should we have gotten him? he is dismantling the warriors. how much are we stunting kp by having a terrible PG?
crzymdups @ 3/10/2017 10:08 PM
yes, not getting Rubio for Rose was a massive mistake.
nixluva @ 3/10/2017 10:38 PM
Spilled milk! Gotta look to the Draft and FA this summer. I'm not looking back right now. Too much opportunity ahead of this team.
arkrud @ 3/10/2017 11:32 PM
If Phil will trade for Rubio (And there is no guaranty that they were accepting the Rose/Rubio swap) he will be criticized for cup implications and wasting a lot of $$$ for average PG.
Now when he did not trade for him he is criticized after Rubio has one great game.
So because Phil will be blamed ether way he is doing things as per his plan regardless.

Phil hasn't done that well with cap space. Also, if you are in the its all about developing KP camp this was a big miss on his part. I am starting to wonder if the Knicks will bring Rose back. It will be an interesting offseason.
the knicks should add a good player in the draft. Does Phil bring Rose back? Does he draft a point guard and try to use money to bring guys in? Does Phil's behavior towards Melo and the Oakley situation limit the Knicks options in free agency?
crzymdups @ 3/11/2017 12:06 AM
On the bright side, Rubio helped the T'Wolves beat the Warriors tonight. Helped the Knicks tank. Maybe it's all part of Phil's master plan
Nalod @ 3/11/2017 12:21 AM
Rubio is beat the warriors.
I suppose some of you think if we had rubio, we'd have beaten the warriors.
Simple.

Remember how you were gloating earlier today how the Wolves aren't much better than the Knicks even though they have Thibs and a bunch of young players. Oops.

You get a bit pretentious sometimes. You might want to check that.
sidneydeane @ 3/11/2017 2:56 AM
yeah who cares, rubio is not our 0g of the future and hes not really a triangle player so..
im praying we get lucky enough in the lottety to pick high enough to get dennis smith. git a weird feeling we will end up with ntikilina. which im not againsts either but reallu would love D.Sjr
sidneydeane @ 3/11/2017 2:57 AM

I wanted Rubio, but I'm not going to cry about it. Thibs didn't want to do the deal in the end- why to people torture themselves?

Lets wait and see until the draft- if we'd got him, we might have won more games and ruined our draft pick. If we end up with Fultz, Ball, JJ or even a PG who turns out to be better than him, or if we use our cap space on something useful, or if we trade Melo for Rivers, or if Rubio goes down with injuries again, then not getting him made sense.

Even then you're using hindsight.

Yep, if Twolves and traded him to us, they would probably have overtaken us in the tank standings.

Rubio on the block just shows to me how silly Minnesota is. They have a team full of scorers. Rubio is perfect for them. They should be running and gunning.... but instead they are worse than us. It's ridiculous. Thibbs wants to play a certain way. It's not working with the players he has. Does that sound familiar? That narrative only works with the Knicks I guess.

Paris907 @ 3/11/2017 4:52 AM
You must be joking. Rubio? A Massive mistake? Is a pg who can't play D gonna take you deep into the playoffs?
What has Rubio ever done to warrant Phil screwing up again. Please...not getting Seth or not securing Rubio does not reach the "massive" screw up level.
nyknickzingis @ 3/11/2017 7:33 AM
I like Rubio more than Rose and wanted that trade. However wouldn't have Rubio meant the Knicks end up with like 3-4 more wins and likely draft 12/13 and not top 8 where they are now? Then factor Rubio has not had success anywhere in terms of wins and losses because of his outside shooting issues.

He's an upgrade over Rose and that's why we wanted him, but in the end, Wolves were smart. They know Rubio at 12M is a better investment than Rose at 22M.

Do you think our offensive scheme would allow him to play the same type of game he use accustomed to? One game does not erase his many mediocre games. Not to mention the Twolves were not very good, dor many years, with him as PG.

As for stunning KP, jamming the Triangle down his throat and not improving his inside play is a bigger concern.

So true. Thibs was supposed to be the greatest ciach in earth if you believe people here. He has full control of the Wolves and they suck.

I was making fun of those that think the reunion with Thibs, noah and Rose would produce a 60 win season like Roses MVP year.
And I make fun of the Rubio assumption you present with a fresh new thread.
Oops.

The Triangle actually demands more Post ups for KP! That's why it's called the Triple Post Offense!
KP will in time learn how to post and pass out of the post. The Triangle is not a hindrance to Bigs. It's one of the few offenses designed for two Post players to coexist. One post on the Side Triangle and another in the Pinch Post.

Wow. I know I haven't been at every home game this year but when exactly has KP been in post position on a consistent basis? So he doesn't hover at 3pt. line much?

How I can't wait till 2019 when Phil is gone and we will be talking about it like the old dinosaur it is. Problem is, KP would have wasted 4 years learning a system he will never use again.
