I'm locked into college basketball at this point. My mind is focused on scouting for our picks.
The lottery is going to be the most important lottery next to the Ewing draft. We got lucky with KP... We need to get lucky again.
Now the way I look at it.... you can trash me about it but we don't need a true point guard. So I don't care about getting Fox. I don't want that french kid Frank cuz he's not going to be ready on day one the way KP is. Plus I think he's going to be shooting guard in the mold of Jamal Crawford.
I think we might need to get this kid Markelle Fultz... he's on a bad team so he's not going to the dance. That means he'll be resting and getting ready for the draft. He's definitely not a point guard. He's not even the point guard on his team. He's a scorer. I can see him paired with Chasson Randle. We're running the triangle we need that ball to move. If we can have these guys out there getting these open triangle shots.... I just think that would be fucking awesome. KP and Willy will be wide open.
If we can't win the lotto I want Terance Ferguson or Allonzo Trier... maybe Dwayne Bacon. This are low lotto mid round picks though.
Lonzo Ball is stl my favorite but I think his destiny is leading the Lakers back to Showtime with Magic as president.
My thought process could change but this is it right now...

I agree with your take for the most part but I want Tatum, Miles Bridges or Dillon Brooks. Watching the ACC and SEC games I think this team needs an athletic highly skilled SF REAL BAD! I think they should get a well rounded Combo guard with size as well. A guy with Fultz size and ability to shoot and create is very important.
I will be on holiday in Rio De Janeiro for it, so that will hopefully ease the pain if the result is not great!

I'm watching De'Aaron Fox go off against Alabama right now and you can see the Talent just oozing off the kid. There's so much talent in this draft in positions of need for the Knicks. I think even into the 2nd rd. there will be PG, SF and SG talent for this team.

I like the way he chases down lose balls and rebounds. He's like a crash dummy. Has alot of heart.

I don't think it's that common that a team with 3 consecutive lottery picks ends up contending for a championship. It's usually a reflection that the team is dysfunctional and stuck in the basement.

I'm still worried about the position he'll play in the NBA. I see a quality bench player, but I'm not sold on him being a NBA quality starter.

The truth is nobody wants to sign here. We have to build from within. Plenty of teams have done it this way. We have to pull a starter every year for out to work. Year one we got KP. Willy was drafted the same year as KP but signed on in year 2. You can add Randle and Baker too the list. This 2017 draft we have to get another player that can start right away. Before the 2018 off season we can put out KP, Willy, Randle...if we're lucky we could get Fultz or whoever, plus another lottery pick from 2018... all of a sudden we are an attractive team! We could attract talent.... maybe even win better that .500 and get in the playoffs. We have to accept the cards we played in the past. Summer of 2018 could be the moment the Knicks have their breakthrough

Nobody wants to sign here? We got Kuz and KOQ on very good deals. You mean no all-stars want to sign here? That's OK - most all-stars you're overpaying for anyway. Most of them are not worth the $30 to 40 mil it's gonna cost, and it would cripple the franchise to pay them that. A few guys like Lebron are worth anything the league allows you to pay but for the most part in trades and free agency, you have to spot the players *before* they become all-stars.
You need at least 2, or better yet 3, superstars to win a championship. You either sign them, even if it costs you $30-40m, or draft them. It's that simple. People like Kuz or KOQ do not make or break championship teams.

Superstars yes. There are probably only 5 superstars in the league but they're definitely worth that. I might even stretch it to 10 players, but a superstar is definitely not the same as an ordinary all-star.
I'd agree about Kuz and KOQ. The purpose of getting players like that would be to help build the team towards a respectable level that good players might even consider coming to.

In theory, yes. In reality, championship teams usually get their key players from draft picks (and not always lottery picks), trades, and free agency. They aren't teams that just planned for several consecutive lottery years based on the belief that that is the best way to build a championship team.

It's not great, but it's better than overpaying overrated players.
If it's about winning, you are trying to get players to put you over the top and you may have to overpay..If it's about just fielding a team then you don't pay up and you continue losing..ex. Our bench..
