Knicks · Time to Shut Down Melo, Rose, etc? (page 1)

BigRedDog @ 3/15/2017 11:24 AM

"The Lakers will reportedly shut down Luol Deng for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.
The Lakers are prioritizing the development of the younger guys on the roster, so both Timofey Mozgov and Deng will not take the court again this season, meaning that their $136 million investment will finish the year watching from the sidelines. Both Mozgov and Deng have three years left on their deal in which they'll be paid far more than their market value, so Lakers GM Rob Pelinca may consider waiving these guys during the offseason. Brandon Ingram will be the unquestioned started small forward moving forward, and Larry Nance could see an uptick in minutes. "

Time for us to do the same. Limit KP's minutes, also Lee, also KOQ. Heavy with Randle, Baker, Kuz, Hernando, Holiday even Plumlee. Very disappointing win last night. What are we trying to prove??? Lets look for next yr and give the youngins some time. Definitely NO Sasha, we know what he can do.

Moonangie @ 3/15/2017 11:28 AM
BRING BACK THE TANK!!!

- sit Melo
- play Rose (he sucks)
- sit KP (he's hurt anyway, too risky to play him for no reason)
- play the yoots, with heavy minutes for Randle and Baker.

Lakers fall below 3rd spot they lose the pick to Philly.

YeH, why is Porzingis even playing? No reason to risk injury at this point

He needs to play to learn how to be the featured player, as long as he's healthy.

You bring in Magic Johnson--the guy is a brilliant man. He knows darn well they need to get a top 3 pick or they get scrwed.

The Knicks on the other hand will play Rose and melo down to the wire. They dont care if they had an experience where one draft slot cost them Steph Curry

We want to stink--we want to take the hard route of another 15 years--and of course according to Jim Dolan we have Carmelo who is a top 3 NBA star.

MS @ 3/15/2017 1:20 PM
Magic Johnson is brilliant? I am pretty sure any idiot running a team understands you either get a top 3 pick and potential future star or you're blanked and your franchise is set back 5 years. The Knicks are just painfully stupid.

Let's not forgot Magic suggested Isiah to Dolan. An unforgivable offense.

You lost me there..........

Randle, Ingram, Russell and a top three pick is a good core to rebuild with. Add some cap space and wait for Westbrook.
Not bad.
Not Brilliant either.
PHil had to tear it down, and did not have two number one picks of the three he was here. He is ignorant?

90sKnicks @ 3/15/2017 4:59 PM
The tank is dependent on teams not maximizing effort. Thus, to properly tank it would be guys like Lance Thomas and Kyle O'Quinn that would need to sit. Play Melo and Rose. They don't care about winning, only stats, and don't play a lick of defense. Play Kuz, Plumlee, N'Dour, Baker, and Randle to get their feet wet.

Is he really, he got towels thrown in his face when he tried to coach the lakers, he sounded clueless on ESPN as a studio analyst(like an average fan) . But aside from that, he's my favorite player of all time hands down. That doesn't make him a architect. That's the problem with some of you, you think because the guy was a great player or coach, he should be great at anything basketball related. that's just not realistic or EWING would have been some franchise head coach already

ramtour420 @ 3/15/2017 5:51 PM
We got Nets the next game, my spidey sense is telling me we are about to go on a winning streak ! Yeah baby, 11th pick come to papa!!!

Have you ever seen the spurs tank, yet they seemed to have drafted half of their roster.. They develop winning habits, and bring young players into a winning culture. We seem to turn talented players in to losers because we develop them in a losing atmosphere.

Did you see the interview with shumpert today where he said playing for the knicks was HELL

Can't compare the Spurs to any other situation. They started off with the luck of sucking when Duncan was available. Duncan being an all time great is not something you can actually PLAN for. After that they did an excellent job of drafting and developing talent and establishing a system, however if they had never drafted Duncan all of the Championships and their great record would not exist. It always starts with a franchise Talent.

The Knicks have had some talented players in recent years and the most talented of all has been Melo. As talented as Melo is, he is obviously not Duncan. The failure to build anything lasting with Melo on board is an unfortunate BAD job by the Front Office. Melo also bears a huge responsibility for the poor performance of the team. The only thing they can do now is to clean up the Environment by getting rid of players that don't have a winning approach to the game. After that they need to draft well, develop their talent and make more smart Signings. Allow the new young talent to grow together. This summer will be crucial to that process.

Randle is not a good player right now.
Ingram's numbers are horrible.

Russell is very good.

And Westbrook just signed an extension with OKC for a few years. He is not going to sign with the Lakers.

The thing is, Glenn supplied Melo with a solid cast of teammates, Phil hasn't, so you throw it all on melo and rose. We went to the playoffs every yr melo has been here until phil came along.

There has been nothing but "Head Line" Drama surrounded the knicks since phil signed on. This has been just has bad as the Isaiah ERA if not worse.. why are you completely ignoring that fact
