This game was all Nene. Russel Westbrook learning the same lesson all iso players learn. You cant win 1 on 5.
WaltLongmire @ 4/23/2017 11:14 PM
So Hayward is out for the rest of the game because of food poisoning??

Turning out to be one of the worst playoffs in terms of injuries/time lost for key players...No?

Am I missing anyone?

Blake
Rondo
Gobert
Durant
Hayward

Maybe its just me, but LeBron actually looks better slashing to rim than before. Looks more effective using his dribble to get past his defender in transition or half court. Isnt just bullying his way to the rim. Impressive.

Harden does a good job of creating close contact in his favor, that's to his credit. He knows how to draw fouls. He also plays in the efficient style that Daryl Morey wants, they are on the same page.

Any Houston Rocket player gets an international boost in marketing, just the way it's always been. Sort of a legacy from the Yao Ming days and carried over when Lin was there.

He gets a lot of "8 On 5" Leverage that Stern used to make sure certain players got in the league. If you sell a lot of shoes, you will get a lot of calls in your favor. Westbrook is the same way. Once they lose their athleticism some, Westbrook and Harden will simply start jumping into other players to create contact, much like Wade has done for the past few years now.

Sadly, the best thing any player can do for his career in the NBA is to marry a pop star. One of the very best things that Mark Cuban did for himself was get onto the show Entourage. It appeals to that narcissistic "you can be more than a superior athlete, you can also be a singer, rapper, fashion mogul, actor, talk show personality, super celebrity, on your own box of Wheaties" crap a lot of these players just covet. There was an interview long where Chris Webber spent like 20 minutes talking about how he could have been a world class actor, had all these opportunities to branch out and just do more than basketball, and it was just hilarious. The dude has no charisma. Yes, because Hollywood is clamoring to have a nearly 7 foot guy who can barely enunciate a functional sentence to join DiCaprio in the next Scorsese movie. When Alonzo Mourning has his kidney problems and needed a transplant, and got like 18 offers for kidneys the next day after it went public, he seemed genuinely surprised he was starting to get open death threats. ( Funny how people on the transplant list watching their kids die slow might not vibe too well with the whole thing....)

"We make a lot of money but we spend a lot of money too" - Patrick Ewing

I think David Stern did the best he could. He marketed the drama and the soap opera conflict because he was stuck with a league full of out of touch idiots.

That the league administration is actively and openly looking to job the Golden State Warriors and Kevin Durant for playing team ball ( but not the best "marketing ball") says so many negative things about the modern game itself.

Harden and Westbrook and the like, even back to old Allen Iverson, shows it's more important to get that 8 On 5 and have the refs on your side to sell the most shoes over actually playing the right way. If Lance Thomas married a Kardashian, he'd make an All Star game, sadly it would end up true if it happened.

You ready to come home?

home is where the heart is. mine is in the north.

the question you should ask the folks here is "are you ready to leave an abusive relationship?"

LOL,
i tried. Knicks are in my blood since childhood. There is no logic.

Watched the Clips and Jazz and I have to say Hayward is the man. On the floor and Chris Paul tries to tie up the ball. Hayward tells Chris Paul get the f' out of here that ball is mine. Old school basketball.

Seem to recall that Hayward was not the most physically mature player when he came up....He did a good job of working on his body...took him a few years, but he is solid and does not seem to have lost any speed. This is why I don't make as big a deal of a player's strength than some do. This is especially true given the young age players come in the league'

Of course the player has to put in the effort...

WaltLongmire @ 4/26/2017 8:33 PM
Some arrogance by Westbrook...and a nice comeback by Beverly.

NBA biggest problem is refs. After that it's cba

Watching bulls and celts and refs had a few bad calls compounded by techs when Bulls called them out (and bulls were right). Yes a coupl of bad minutes in 48 min game but all the difference in the world

They need to fix this. Whether it's more refs. Eye in the sky support or whatever they need to fix it.

Teams have huge investment in salaries etc and games are decided by a few bad calls

And no this isn't tony brothers grudge bad. Just a few bad minutes which I'm sure the refs themselves regret

Really serious issue as fans will get frustrated and turn elsewhere like professional wrestling

His 3 pt game is now more consistent. That is the reason he is more effective driving to the basket. He is catching defenders trying to run him out of the 3.

Bulls just announced Rondo is out for tomorrow night's game.

Yeah. Amazing game. I think Terry got 3 offensive rebounds in a row. I was watching the draft and thought the bucks were done early.
djsunyc @ 4/27/2017 10:04 PM
well we don't make it easy lol.

this was an important win to prove we grew from last year - first playoff win on the road before game 7. last year we got blown out in each game 6 on the road to force a game 7, so that's growth.

credit to the bucks to come back from 25 but we went on a 9-0 run right after that - which shows some toughness too.

2nd best team in the east, unfortunately same bracket as cleveland so no ecf's this year for us but it would be nice if we can push the cavs.

derozan's growth as a player is quite remarkable. slow but steady progress...and now 6/7 years later and he's as close to a legit star as you can be w/o being a star (if that makes sense).
