Knicks · Rose expresses he wants to come back in exit interview... (page 1)

SocraticBallin22 @ 4/14/2017 5:09 PM
I believe this was the most revealing thing I took out of Phil's press conference (aside from him not wanting Melo back, which we've all known).

Phil said Rose surprisingly told him how much he enjoyed playing for the Knicks (despite the losing) and would like to go back home to Chicago in the offseason and rehab and come back next season to 'redeem himself'. He has also said that he is not looking for a MAX contract anymore; that he has enough money saved up, and it's all about winning for him now. Which leads me to think that he would be willing to come back next season and give us a discounted rate with limited years--something I would be in favor of.

He proved this year that he can stay relatively healthy again for a full season and still has the uncanny ability to drive and get to the basket at will still at an elite level---a combination of strength, quickness and agility that few players have in this league.

I don't like the whole AWOL thing, and he's not a true PG, but if his attitude has changed, and he wants to be here, and he's willing to take on a different role (more of a SG) then I say do it. The talent is still there. And I think he would play better (more team ball) without Melo on the team next year and be more of a veteran leader.

StarksEwing1 @ 4/14/2017 5:10 PM
I doubt he is back unless its for a very small salary.
Gudris @ 4/14/2017 5:34 PM
He dont have enough basketball IQ to play a good team ball
TheGame @ 4/14/2017 9:32 PM
Sure he wants to come back. If the Knicks are going to pay him $20 mil, he will happily take the check and sit on the bench with is pal Noah.
Vmart @ 4/14/2017 10:00 PM
No!!!

3 years 20 million dollars after we find no one else to spend the money on.

Mr. AWOL can be relied on.

Dagger @ 4/14/2017 10:41 PM
Not even for a penny

I agree. I think it'll be more like 2yr $50M with year 2 a player or team option. Probably a player option since it's Phil.

nixluva @ 4/15/2017 2:47 AM
It sounded to me like Phil was keeping the door open to Rose as a fallback option. I think he wants to get someone better but wouldn't be averse to bringing Rose back as a scorer.
smackeddog @ 4/15/2017 3:24 AM
Worst bit of the press conference for me- I don' get why Phil likes him and gives him a pass on everything. Seriously, he hates and insults the triangle, he doesn't make any effort on defense, he's selfish, he did a runner. Why does Phil like him?

Think about a woman who is 35 year old. She's got a couple of kids from a couple of different deadbeat dads. From 17-25, the world was hers. She was hot, young, fit, smoking body, guys were lining up around the block to buy her free stuff and validate her and give her attention. She spent those years coked out, drunk, whored up. Passed around like a blunt at a fraternity, getting pumped out and ditched by dudes who knew she was worthless to marry.

Then she starts to sag. Then her looks don't outweigh her nagging, her toxic personality, her crappy values, her bad choices, her bad credit, her marginal job prospects.

Suddenly, the schlub who is in halfway decent shape with a good job and a good pension is there. He's been waiting for her forever. She would bat an eyelash at him twice in her previous "prime years" But he'll shut up, be grateful, pay for kids that are not his, so he can get sex once every two weeks while she starfishes him, laying there waiting for him to finish, resents him for not being the rock star Channing Tatum guy she thinks she deserves, and wait on her hand and foot. The dude is not even a human being in her eyes, he's just a soft landing, a retirement plan that is her best option because she's starting to be a butter face muffin top burned out whore.

That's Derrick Rose. No better than an aging trollop who had a train run on her too many times at frat parties who wants a soft landing.

You know what happens to that guy who thinks he's married his dream girl after she's "figured out what's important"? She doesn't just resent him, she cheats. Then she divorces him and takes most of his money and goes on getting railed by some greasy haired drug dealer named Ringo.

Do you want the Knicks franchise to be the mother f**cking b*tch boy who is just good enough to be an ATM for a washed up whore?

Rose was in a CONTRACT YEAR and look how little he cared. What do you think he will do with long term security? ( i.e. a long term "marriage" in place?)

Rose is the equivalent of a washed up aging trollop who can't even be bothered to restrain her lousy behavior, her nagging, her demands, not even BEFORE she reels in the sucker to pay for her life.

Rose is not lamenting the failure of poor character, he's lamenting the failure of poor choices. There's a difference. It's the same battle cry that washed up whores use to lure in suckers to pay for kids from guys who pumped and dumped and moved on.

Part of being a better franchise is acting like you have actual value. A real man doesn't just ring up the first chick willing to spread her legs for him in exchange for his pension. You enforce boundaries. You don't tolerate lousy behavior because that in itself is a statement that that's what you believe that you deserve and only deserve.

Do you want the same lips that guzzled down 300 frat boys to be the same lips that kiss your kids good night after a bedtime story?

Then why would the Knicks want anything else to do with Derrick Rose?

CrushAlot @ 4/15/2017 10:16 AM
No free agent wants to sign with Phil/Knicks and no team wants Rose. Expect this to be the big offseason signing.
GustavBahler @ 4/15/2017 10:51 AM
Sure, another season of Rose calling his own number and freezing out KP. Sure, that would be great for his development. What a colossal F up it would be if Rose is back next season, and KP isn't.

They didn't want to come here in the first place. The thought of NY media and playing along side Melo was reason enough not to come here. Melo with his empty black book.

i think that was more Knicks with no cap space. Later it was Phil telling guys he was going to play them in positions they didn't want or asking them to take less to be a part of something he was creating. Rose is back and Melo probably is gone. Phil is signing his new scape goat so he has someone to blame next April.

Is Melo supposed to sign guys? Because I thought that was Phil's job? I thought he was going to seduce players with his 11 rings and the triangle?

I thought Phil was just brought in so that he could mentor people like a paid advisor?

matt @ 4/15/2017 11:48 AM
I would also want to come back to a team with history of overpaying players past their prime

Funny, you kind of described the women that sued Rose last summer.
I don't know whether I agree with you or not, but I love this post.
Do I want him back? I don't know. I say he is in Jose Calderone territory salary wise and potential off the bench. There is a price for that kind of player. Its not a contract that hurts you.

We can agree to a price, he can wait, sign the holiday brothers and pay Rose JR smith Money and draft the best player available which I don't think we will get a PG. We don't need a PG, we need a stud.

He is increasing his mentoring. Melo Green is out of the tropicana. Phil's boys Steve and Jamie are running things now.
