They've been playing that game all year- Phil speaks, blast him, Phil doesn't speak, blast him for not speaking, Phil speaks, blast him for speaking- rinse and repeat.
Worst comes to worst, Phil and Melo will realize that if they cannot get separated, they will have to all just get along, sob on each other's shoulder, make up, and swear love and affection for each other forever (or at least for the next two years until both of their contracts expire).
I would not be averse to the Knicks making a run at a decent free agent PG (Holiday, Hill or Teague, though I disliked Teague in the opening Cle vs Indy playoff game), drafting a stud out of college, and going into another season with Melo in the lineup.
Any way you cut it, no team has ever benefited from losing its top scorer, especially if he scores over 20 points per game.
Woj reporting that so far Jax's public display has Anthony wanting to dig in and outlast Phil.
If the president of the Knicks was Joe Shmo. This wouldn't even be a issue. The reality is Phil took over garbage of a team. And add a couple of long term pieces. The rest is basically garbage for garbage trade.

he also gave out a near max contract with a ntc and a huge trade kicker.

What happens when Hornecek starts giving him DNP's

not sure. Managements anti Melo stance and pro triangle stance certainly isn't going well.

Its going very well.
More drama, more attention, more press, more entertainment, more $$$.
They have to find a way to make money on declining losing Melo and they sure did found the way.
NY fans are great, they are a huge help for Dolan to biff up his pockets without having any good product.
Genius!!!

He already gave his list to the Knicks before the deadline.
Don't believe what these guys say infront of the camera. The Knicks know he'll accept a trade to Clippers/Cavs maybe another team. They will only negotiate with those teams. 3 way trade is very possible.
KP is also done with NY. You will see.

If only he put that level of determination into playing defense. He's beyond pathetic

Isn't this a bit over the top and premature? KP may be upset but "done with NY"? I think that's a bit too much. KP and Phil will talk and things will calm down.
Let him sit - Melo off the bench will find a way to hoist 15 jump shots in 20 minutes. If his pride is so hurt he and his brand can go elsewhere and our "kids" can learn to play hoops and still lose 31 without Melo.
I agree enyspree. Sit his ample butt down and let him and his brand stew. The players have all become too big and filled with self import. If Phil can't run the show, then give the Keys to Isola and Melo and let them run it

The only people who make money from this is the media

Melo is poisoning the minds of the young core like KP so to me sitting him is not an option. He cannot come back. Trade him or waive him.

Or we could let him play for the D-league team

Pat Riley also took over a garbage Miami team, but turned it into a perrennial force to be reckoned within a couple of years.

Do they bench him, cut him, severely limit his minutes. Like what are the options if he decides he doesn't care being on a rebuild team to end his career?
I think that could be really interesting. AT what point does the nba get involved with the KNicks again in regards to management and ownership. Phil and Dolan are such an embarassment. I was hoping something would happen with the Oakley incident. Phil is the new worst exec in the league that works for the Knicks and has more job security than anyone in the nba. The knicks have had that guy before and it always sucks.
Why is Phil and embarrassment? He says the truth about his "star" player. Give me a break! The guy is paid $$25M per year. Stop bitching and play the damn game! He has the lowest BBall IQ on the team. He does not play defense and he stops motion on offense. Yes he can score at times but never when the team needs it.
Sorry, I will go with Phil over Melo any day of the week. Phil has won. Melo has not taken a team past the 2nd round ever!
CrushAlot wrote:Woj reporting that so far Jax's public display has Anthony wanting to dig in and outlast Phil.
They each have 2 years left, so that wouldn't work would it?
If he stays, Cut him. Addition by Subtraction.
