I'm built like a running back 5-10 220! I was 155 lbs at Fox's age. He's like 100% Fast Twitch Muscle

Fox 6-3 170? Ouch

Not really that concerned about the weight. He's got solid wingspan and good height for a PG. Fox seems like he's gonna stay wiry and lean which is good for his quickness and explosion. He doesn't have trouble finishing despite being so skinny.

WaltLongmire @ 5/11/2017 10:14 PM
Strange...maybe because he's thinner, I always thought he looked taller/longer, but I'll say that he "plays with length."

VERY surprised that his weight went down from his Kentucky combine... That is something his trainer/agent should have been addressing.

Something to consider, but he'll fill in over time, just strange that something many think is a "weakness" for him was not worked on.

I'm not surprised at all and predicted that his wingspan numbers at UK were off. I suspect Monk's wingspan numbers are off too.

Every year we do this when it comes to weight... these kids are like furnaces. They probably can eat like crazy but because of their metabolism. Their bodies incinerate food. Especially a kid like Fox. He's super fast. He's not going to keep weight on. As a pro he will start to get with pro trainers and figure that out but it's hard to do when your life is running full speed 75ft, 100 times for 48 minutes. The kid is still a super talent. Weight is not going to hinder him as long as he keeps up with his strength training.

Remember Darryl Armstrong? He was skinny but could jump out the gym and he could bench press well over 300lbs. He had a nice career. Just gotta understand these guys aren't body builders. Body builders don't do cardio until it's time to cut for a show. Basketball players have to constantly figure out ways to increase their cardio while not severely depleting their strength. There is a method to everything

Note to Knicks: Calipari says De’Aaron Fox may be next John Wall
By Marc Berman May 12, 2017 | 2:58am

CHICAGO — John Calipari said point guard De’Aaron Fox can be like John Wall if he changes his mentality.

The Kentucky coach held court Thursday at the NBA Draft Combine. His starting backcourt of Fox and Malik Monk are definite lottery picks and intriguing to the Knicks. Also gaining combine buzz is Kentucky student Hamidou Diallo, a Queens product who didn’t even play this season, but is being projected as a potential middle first-rounder.

According to a source, the Knicks interviewed Fox on Wednesday, whose speed is being compared with another Calipari Kentucky stud, Wall.

“I asked John Wall that,’’ Calipari said. “ ‘John, is he is as fast as you?’ ‘No.’ I asked Eric Bledsoe. He said no. But he’s fast. They ask me to compare. That was seven, eight years ago I coached [Wall]. But they’re both really fast.’’

The difference, Calipari said, is the attacking mindset Wall always possessed.

“John Wall uses his speed as a weapon, wasn’t as good with the ball scoring-wise at that age like De’Aaron, who has floaters — not a great 3-point shooter, but good,’’ Calipari said. “Neither was John. But John’s thing was I’m getting that run and dunk on you. This kid [Fox] didn’t use it as a weapon. My whole thing all season — sprint the ball for layups. Rebound it, get the outlet and try to get a layup. When he did it, it was, ‘Oh my God.’ But he doesn’t use it as weapon yet. When he uses it as a weapon, it’s a wrap. I want him to use his speed as a weapon, use it like John Wall.”

Of the projected top-10 picks, only Fox and potential No. 1 Markelle Fultz attended the combine. Nevertheless, Fox and Fultz canceled their press conferences Thursday.

Calipari said it is not because Fox was out on the town the night before.

“He has a buzz about him,’’ Calipari said. “He has a spirit about him. Yet like Karl Towns (2015 No. 1 pick), he never left his room. Karl Towns nevr left his room and neither did this kid.’’

After destroying Lonzo Ball in the Sweet 16, Fox is not expected to fall past the sixth pick. The Knicks are seeded seventh — by virtue of their last-second victory in the season finale. They could miss out by one spot on Fox if form holds and they stay put in Tuesday’s lottery.

Nevertheless, that would put them in position for Monk, another freshman Calipari raved about.

“Malik Monk is special folks,’’ Calipari said. “There’s stuff he does — you just iso him. He can play a 1 or 2, head’s on the rim, fast, good with the ball, a scorer. But he can do other things. Defensively, he can be that guy. But they’re all young. They’re 19. They can’t get a beer or go to a club. If you’re going to draft him, know that. Don’t think they’re 25.”

Calipari has about two dozen former Kentucky players on NBA rosters. He said Fox and Monk could make the transition to New York because of the massive spotlight/media crush found at Kentucky.

“They’re not overwhelmed by this,’’ Calipari said.

When he was at the University of Memphis, Calipari coached Derrick Rose, the Knicks point guard and Chicago native who is rehabbing from his latest knee surgery.

“We were texting,’’ Calipari said. “I told him I was in his city. I’m broke and I want you to buy me dinner. He said he was out West. He’s good. He said he’s getting after it. He was in great frame of mind.’’

That'll be pretty amazing if it does happen. Would be like discovering some ancient prophecy, lol.

I don't see an avenue where we draft Fox unless we trade up. We either land in the top 3 which Jackson, Fultz, Ball would,be the prize. Though I would trade Ball for more assets.

Or we draft 7th and Fox doesnt fall to us. Jackson is the guy I am hoping for though. He is the cleanest prospect to me.

6'3" 170 is very scary, even at the PG position. ESPECIALLY if he's a scoring PG. Even more especially on defense. In the words of Briggs: "Ouch."

Kid is a Super high metabolism type. He needs a nutritionist to help him eat right and put on some muscle. He actually handles contact at the rim very well considering how light he is.
