Larry Hughes was very good... we should be happy with that. Remember he got hurt and really lost most of his mobility after the knee injuries. Before that he was a very good player.
I mean a star would be nice, but its even more critical you simply get a good player. Not every guy can be a star. Sometimes they just become good rotation players and if we are drafting every year thats a positive.
I want us to grab a guy who becomes a star (duh) but where we are guys are going to require some patience or some tempered expectations.

I keep seeing these Hughes and Lou Williams comparisons. He's nothing like them. He's a lights-out shooter and top-tier athlete. His potential is crazy. This league values shooters and freak athletes, and he's both.
I like Fox's comparison to Monk the best: Avery Bradley. If we could draft the next Avery Bradley I'd be fucking ecstatic. I know they can't all be the next Andrew Bynum but come on... Monk can play. If he was 6'6" he'd be the #1 overall pick

Devin Booker got drafted 13th... that was a mistake. Just like I'm almost never interested in an Arizona alum, I am pretty much always interested in a Kentucky player

my man - we agree whole-heartedly, especially on the "never-draft-arizona-alums" idea. but on topic, briggs hate for monk is beyond dumb to me. the nba is all about 3pt shooting and athleticism, these days, and monk has both in spades. there haven't been too many calipari-kentucky players that have come into the league lately that have just been crap, atleast any of the lotto picks and i think that says alot. monk will be fine, briggs can pick at the laughable height/weight stuff, but that won't affect monk in todays nba, 20 years ago, that's obviously a different story. this isn't ben gordon coming into the league.

Remember, Briggs judges players strictly on their last couple of games. That's why he loves Fox now, even though before the tournament he argued with me in the draft thread that you can't take him because he can't shoot. Now all of that is forgotten because he destroyed Ball in that one game. If Monk had a great tournament, he would love him, but he didn't. It's the only reason he even has a chance to drop to #8. He's the real deal.

I've said Philly was going to take him from the get go...thought moving to 3 might change things... if they play their cards right they might be able to pick him up and get some other assets if they move back a few slots.
Just sucks that we can't be in this kind of position in this draft, which seems to be a deep one with some fine talent in the top 10.

After Fultz and Ball, i don't think there is much variance in talent. Jackson, Tatum, Fox, Smith, Ntilikina, Monk, and Isaac are all about preference really. Maybe a slight drop after Jackson, Tatum, and Fox, but it's not much.
