I tend to veer in the mid-to-high lottery towards the highest potential players with less regard to downside; the difficulty of acquiring these players traditionally through trade or free-agency, combined with the need for these types of players to have a chance of competing at a championship level, shapes my bias there. Defensive ability is equal to offense to me - so guys like Jackson, Isaac, and Ntikilina get a slight boost (although Ntikilina is limited in terms of burst).
This draft was interesting in that the high-potential players (minus the unpredictable late bloomers) extend all the way to 7. So I had my fingers crossed more than usual this time around. My handle on the draft prospects isn't necessarily right - hopefully the knicks analytics on individual prospect on-court multi-tasking, and long term skill development is ahead of the curve. The way Id go about this is with 2 workouts separated by 2 weeks, with prospects tasked to focus on certain plays/abilities.
Monk's deficiency in creating using his handle, is not something I expect to get much better statistically, and his defensive upside is limited because of his size. So I shy away from using a bullet on what I think may be good but not great.
Overall, I'm disappointed. I think the variability in draft order will reduce as we get closer to the draft, and we may be left with slim pickings. Lets see though.. talent is in the eye of the beholder.

I think If Monk is there we have to take him. He had a pros game. Lou Williams is a good comparison. Jr Smith is a good comparison too. To compare, Smith plays alot like Lowry. He's often bullied college guards. He's not gonna do that in the NBA. He also reminds me of Isiah Canaan. He's not the athletic kid he was in high school. In high school he was looking like Steve Francis.
Lou Williams would be a good comp if he shot better. Monk is an elite outside shooter. I would say his best case is McCollum and worst case Eric Gordon. Somewhere in between. He's the best shooter and scorer among the top 10. He's great value at 8. Kentucky players have done well in the league. And he fits this positionless league. My top choice was fox when he waa mocked in the 6-10 range before the tournament. Now he probably doesn't get passed Sac at 5. Monk is my new target. He's very underrated. He had a down tournament so many will underrate him.

I think Philly are fine with the 3rd pick... They could draft Jackson and just Bully the rest of the league for years. They have a really nice young core coming into next season.
Not sure why they would take Jackson...A SG who can't shoot? A SF on a team with Simmons?
I see their draft as a tough one...BPA or a very good player who fills a need?
Maybe Jackson falls? Who knows.

Was not long ago that his outside shot was questioned...now it isn't.
A kid this age has room to improve, and as I've said many times, he shoots well enough and has enough size to be a good SG in this league.

We gotta deal with the scraps but if we do not trade up or down and things go as we predict, we gotta draft Monk. He's too dynamic of a player to pass over.
There are a couple of weirdo teams ahead of us... Sacramento, Orlando, Pheonix, twolves... it's gonna be any adventure watching them pick. They all seem nd to be throwing darts on a board with no reason why they pick the players they pick.

I think he has a chance to be very good and I'd probably go OG but I highly doubt Denver will give up on Juan. Then again If I was Denver I would be looking at a way to pair Jokic up with a PG and Dennis Smith would be a very good option.

I'm confident his handle will get tighter. That, along with his sized advantage could serve him well at both guard spots. But are his hands big enough?France hasn't really been good to the Knicks with Labyrie and that other guy whose name I can't speak without getting angry. You know, the one who got teabagged by Vince Carter. Can we go there again? Can Frank redeem his country?
