Knicks · Cuban admits to tanking! (page 1)

He said once they were eliminated from the playoffs, they did everything they could to lose games. Right approach. Can't believe he said it out loud though!

What does the league want to do to stop it. I'm for every team thrown into the bin.

He hasnt done much in the draft in years. He should trade us his #9 to take Matthews of his hands so he can do what he does best. Signing FAs.

how is tanking the right approach? you would have the top teams resting players for the playoffs and the bad teams trying to lose games. the NBA is a business after all and who's going to go pay to see these games? of all people, cuban should know this, after all he is supposedly a businessman.

He was going to have Romo play in a game. Makes sense. Everyone else does it.

Right approach for his team. Shitty for the league.

That's a bonehead move to admit that. Especially after Silver took a public stance against it. It's like asking to be fined.

“The worst position you can be in the NBA is to be mired in mediocrity,” Cuban said. “Your best chance to rebuild is to get the next Blake Griffin in the draft. You have to find that guy, and chances are you need a top-three pick.”

Former Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard referred to it as “the treadmill of mediocrity,” meaning you’re just good enough to sneak into the playoffs with an eighth seed and a first-round loss, only to get a middle first-round draft pick that never allows you to truly rebuild.

And yet teams like the Spurs and Blazers have 20+ year runs.
That treadmill comment is a gross oversimplification of only one aspect that holds back rebuilding. There are several other factors with greater impact.

Should the NBA fine Cuban.

I have interesting proposal for NBA.
After regular season 16 best play in play-offs as usual.
Next 8 palsy their own play-offs to fight for 8-16 pick. Best of 3 will be good enough.
Worst 8 will play to get 1 to 8. Same best of 3.
No stupid ping-pong balls, more games to play, real motivation, and possibility for every not so good team to earn better pick.
