The next step has to be a willingness to shoot more. Baker was one of the best distributors on the team last season, as a rookie. But he wont be here long if he joins the club of former Knick PGs who almost never shoot the ball.
Baker was drafted for his 3 pt shooting ability, so there is something to build on.

because NY fans love the blue collar game, especially from guards. Ron Baker is in a position to not only succeed here but do so with popularity. Hardworking country boy with a blue collar game making chump change in a league of stars... yea, NY is gonna hate him. Baker is perfect for this town because he doesnt care about it. He goes out and plays ball. So he strikes me as the perfect "type" to succeed here. Whether or not his game is up to the task remains to be seen.

little bit difficult to have a back and forth when you just 100% just made something up.
I don't think anyone here is underestimating Baker. He's got some potential but he's actually got to show some production. I think banking on a guy whose PER was 7.5, has a -0.1, and shot 37.8% from the field and 26.7% from three win share is friggin insane. That's not a knock on Baker but more so the complete lack of depth at guard

Yeah i agree, i don't think anyone has forgot about him but the kid has a lot of work to do but also seems like the type that will put that work in without a doubt, but i don't think he's gonna be our starting PG next year cause i think PG is the top focus of this off season whether that be the draft or free agency or both. If we needed him to start at PG though because of injury or whatever else i wouldn't worry about him doing his job on the floor.

I don't crave anything but a winning balance roster, I'm not into young, old, fast or slow. I just see what works, and most you guy do too, and baker is not the answer by any stretch of the imagination.
Love the guys heart and defense, but when have you ever seen a lazy undrafted player, those types have to work 10x harder than any player on the court because of their limited skills.
fans are rooting for Baker to be successful. Nothing wrong with that. We like to root for undrafted guys who make good.
Our past is what it is and we can't undue it. Phil is doing things differently than others before. He is trying to develop players than other regimes.
Baker with the right hair cut would be taken more seriously. The awe shucks midwest thing in NY does not play like it does in Indy. Some of you don't like the "White man can't jump" guy either.
This kid is making it in the NBA. He is better than Delevedova.
