Knicks · I have serious doubts about Noah's viability (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 6/5/2017 9:37 AM
The player has had multiple shoulder injuries and its culminated with a rotator cuff surgery. The odds of his shoulder holding up long term in this sport at the age of 33 with the miles on the guy is a very small number. Right now hes a contract not a player that can be counted on.
Its almost like David Wright for the Mets--yes hes on the team but not really(and they both have gigantic contracts) we cant make forward looking plans with Noah slotted in.

I wonder if the Knicks brass have thought about this.

Rest of board -- please make note of Briggs comment/concerns. File under "Stuff we already know".

Love ya Briggs.

We could use 3 or 4 amnesty clauses.

Noah's contract is the only truly bad one due to his health issues. If he's able to come off the bench it's an expensive reserve but at least he brings a great presence and voice for a young team.

There are some other fairly bad ones. Don't forget with an amnesty, you get cap space. I'd rather have $26 mil in cap space this off-season than anything we can get in Melo trade unless his trade value ends up being a lot higher than I expected. And with Phil, we need some spare amnesties also!

I'd explore trades first but if you could give me $62 mil in cap space and wipe Melo, Noah, Lee, and Thomas off the roster, It would be hard to pass on that. I'd explore trades but that means you're taking back salary - so you'd have to be getting better players on better deals than a smart GM could sign as FAs and/or getting good draft picks. I might not amnesty all four of them but I'd like to have four amnesty clauses available - and ideally maybe two more for future Phil signings.

The defender of all things Melo and the moral compass that points to Phil when things go wrong!!!! Knicks1248 is our champion even when there is no cause to defend!!!
A true superhero!!!!! superpower focus to see only Noah as the only bad contract in the NBA for any team. In fact, it might be the worst in history!!! Only thing to do is not hope he gets healthy, or consider his other contributions, but focus on blame. Never let blame go to waste!!!

There hasn't been a move that phil has made that I wasn't on board with, even Naoh, im not a big melo fan to say the least. the part of phil I hate, is his accountability, forcing the triangle on everybody associated with the knick, keeping rambis on the coaching staff, and the treatment of melo, who only started losing(in his career) when he arrived. other than that, phil is great

Justin Holiday $1,015,696 $0 $0 $0 $0
Ron Baker $543,471 $0 $0 $0 $0

Maurice Ndour $543,471 $905,249 $0 $0 $0
Marshall Plumlee $543,471 $905,249 $1,050,262 $0 $0
Chasson Randle $243,860 $905,249 $0 $0 $0

Besides Noah the rest of the roster isn't really full of bad contracts. Some guys are movable like CLee. I just don't see any serious issues besides Melo and Noah's huge deals.

melo scores 23 ppg, 7rbs and 3.5 asst, plays over 70 games per season

noah had zero impact in the locker room, on the court, and was suspend additional games for peds..how the hell you can compare these 2 is beyond ridiculous..lol

trust me, Noah is no rasheed

You do realize that Phil "forced" the Triangle on the Bulls and the Lakers? Neither team ran Triangle before he came and "forced" all of them to adopt the Triangle. Did a LOT of winning that way! The difference is the players BUYING IN.

Who are you referring to exactly?

I'd explore trades first but if you could give me $62 mil in cap space and wipe Melo, Noah, Lee, and Thomas off the roster, It would be hard to pass on that. I'd explore trades but that means you're taking back salary - so you'd have to be getting better players on better deals than a smart GM could sign as FAs and/or getting good draft picks. I might not amnesty all four of them but I'd like to have four amnesty clauses available - and ideally maybe two more for future Phil signings.

The system is now gamed to keep FAs exactly where they are. Cap space is meaningless in that context except to sign players who fall out of favor. Hardly worth going through roster contortions for.

Only thing Noah can give us is 6 fouls a game when we are back in the playoffs in 2 seasons.
