I believe he led the league in shooting percentage allowed at 33%. He himself said he would get over powered. Same with KP he is going to get better. Willie is pretty athletic and similar to what the Warriors have in Zaza. One thing is Willie is a lot more skilled offensively. His defense will get better.

To me the real culprits of last years defense were Rose and Melo. KP took a step back defensively he should be much better he does struggle with small ball lineups. He is not quick enough to guard small players. His positioning sucked all year long. He should get better with better positioning vansmaller players.

To me it's beyond annoying how some keep picking on Willy and KP who are both YOUNG players still maturing. Willy was a ROOKIE! Now that said KP and Willy weren't great but also not our worst defenders.

If Melo, Rose, BJ, CLee and LT had better defensive seasons this team would've been able to win games. Willy and KP were made to look worse due to covering for the PUTRID Defense from the other main players. This is why it's imperative that Phil bring in PLUS defenders on the perimeter. Phil said that he's instructed his scouts to prioritize On Ball Defense with the prospects.

Wow, despite having to read how Phil is going to fix everything (again), this post raises the question as to whether this past season's starting backcourt was any better defensively than the previous season's starting backcourt. And the DOUCHE is as good defensively as Lance, and Baker and Kuz? There's got to be a better metric somewhere...

Zen version of 'On Ball Defense' = "scouts, don't be seen talking to that guy's dad..."

Your post is SHYTE! Try again with something that makes sense and is substantive! This is a below standard effort.

The draft offers the team the opportunity to add BETTER talent than they currently have. The point is to look for quality 2Way players that can form a New Core going forward. If you can't get that thru your head there's no help for you.

And while on the topic of SHYTE, I guess your personal worst executive in the league not named Hinkie can't manage to add better players though FREE AGENCY??? If you're so dense that you can't look at your own stat table and realize your DaddyPhil brought in as bad a defensive STARTING backcourt as we've had lately, than you better start smelling your OWN SHYTE.

Not everybody is GS. Even Cavs have Love/Thompson tandem that KP6 and Willy can defend. KP and Willy to me are untouchables right now. We will need to address the Melo situation. He is purely a 4 right now. If Melo is still on the team then Willy can't start and we need a long defensive minded SF that can rebound. If Melo is gone then you get a true SF that can drive and shoot 3s. If we are lucky enough to reach the finals and meet GS then we can worry about them. Until then...nobody in the NBA has that team model.

At some point you have to get past the Melo-Centric rosters and start looking at what Phil is going to do in building a New Young Core that is based on Phil's vision rather than trying to cater to Melo in any way.

If Phil can add another 1st this draft could bring in a very good haul of the right kind of talent. Hungry young players that have the right makeup and skills to play the right way. I think Phil realizes now that going this route is the best way to achieve his goals with this franchise. That early season Mutiny and Vet comments and resistant attitudes sealed the deal IMO.
