This isn't happening without a trade down. But I don't think its going to happen at all.
My son believes Monk is the best player in the draft, period.
Kennard is a player who will complement a contending team that can carry a specialist.
I'd be shocked if Frankie or Monk were allowed to slip by us assuming either is there. I am getting the feeling that Ball will slip down. He's got A LOT of baggage that could be coach-killing. My fear is that Frankie and Monk will move waaay up mostly because the Knicks aren't shedding tears over current draft projections - in fact, sitting in a cat-bird seat.
I could see Gaines playing Willie Wonka with the teams picking earlier and saying, "NO, NO, PLEASE don't make me pick between Monk or Nitty! Anything but *that*" as he listens to the sound of those teams slide down a slope.
The only thing I fear is all the guards going Early and ending up with only Markkanen left at 8! If Monk, DSJ and Nitty are all there at 8 then that's great.

Markkanen would be fine by me (and a steal there) because there is a pool of very, very good PG candidate sitting in the second-round. Many just happen to be older with more of a history to criticize.
