Knicks · Wojo hinting that Dolan may be reevaluating Phil's tenure??? (page 4)

Several weeks ago, some reporters floated the idea that phil was trying to get himself fired by some of the antics he pulled...that idea doesnt seem so far fetched now...

Yep, completely agree- they manufacture drama then blame the team for 'creating' the drama they just created and then using it as grounds for someone being fired! Phil doesn't talk to the media "oh he's a disgrace! He needs to talk! " Phil talks to the media "phil needs to shut up! "

Firing Phil after he's drafted and just a few days before free agency (and a few months after you've picked up the last 2 yrs on his deal) is just plain dumb. It means we're stuck with melo for 2 yrs and possibly more, and KP has learned that being a diva works.

All those begging for his firing without thinking what would happen next are in for a rude awakening.

Ruder than the worst record as an exec in 70 years?

Knicks could easily be in a worse psition. Just look at the Knicks over the past 2-4 years. No chance at winning anything meaningful and no draft picks. At least now the team is young and has assets to play around with.

I'll take where the Knicks are now vs where they were any time in Carmelo's reign of terror.

Typical of phil, he will let be known that Melo is the reason for him quitting...seems as though phil has been planning his own exit strategy for a while....

Phil's tenure to date.
1. Tried to win with Melo - didn't go well but he tried

2. Embraced a true rebuild for the very first time since the Patrick Ewing era. That's 32 years people!

3. Established a core of young talent - KP, Willy, Frank. That is a solid start to a rebuild.

4. Values the draft! We have all our picks moving forward!

5. We have cap room!

6. We are embracing system ball - the way championship teams play.

Ok, so this is the record of the worst executive in 70yrs?!? I want some of what you're smoking.

There's other motivations for hating Phil. There's a sect of "knick fans" that are bigger melo fans. They come up with more excuses for melo than any player ever to play the game. Never has such a mediocre player been catered to for so long but to them everyone else is out there just get in Melos way.

For Phil to get fired, even if it's terrible for the Knicks, is a major win for them.

345%..thats phils winning percentage, and all we have to show is a couple draft picks..Sac had 3 first round picks this yr alone, thats building through the draft..this guy couldn't move up, down, or trade for more picks because all the assets he had were trash..

The smart thing to do IMO is to give Jeff a year to show what he can do his way, pick his own staff. He's had only one season in his career as a head coach where mgmt didnt make things ridiculously more complicated than they had to be. He was a finalist for coach of the year that season.

Give Jeff a year?

Melo are Phil alive what do you think he's going to do when Jeff gives him any sort of a game plan to run?

If Phil is gone then the players have successfully usurped the managements authoritiy.

How does Jeff give any sort of a team game plan to Melo after melo successfully resisted it and got the guy that hired Jeff fired for that already?

Get bent. Ive been a fan for close to 50 years now. You have put Phil above his record as an exec since the day you joined this board. You have a long way to go to prove to anyone that you are a Knicks fan. POSEUR.

If you're not having realistic shot at winning a championship, I don't care if the winning percentage is 10%. In that case I'd rather have a lower winning percentage to draft well.

That winning percentage was why were in position to draft KP which has put us in the best future position we've been in since we have had a young Ewing. So you should thank Phil for doing a great job there.

No. I put being a Knick fan before anything.

Phil makes moves for the Knicks future.

Melo makes moves for Melo which are conflicting with the Knicks now.

If you're a Knick fan you know what needs to be done with Melo. This is whether you like Phil or not. This is whether you originally agreed with the NTC or not.

1. Trade Frank for an established player.
2. Sign Chris Paul
3. Trade future picks for more washed up.talent.
4. Maybe win 44 games
5. First round playoff exit
6. No hope, after being so.damn.close.

This comes to pass I may have to hang up my Knicks jersey for awhile, would be too heartbreaking.

Yup. But, since this is Woj. I think Phil is safe

Having read the test of the stuff, I guess it may happen. Not sure if I blame Melo more or the media on this one. Here's to seven more years of mediocrity, yeah Dolan would give him another 5 year contract as well. The "fans" that root for Melo just wet their panties by the looks of it.

I could see the post Phil Jackson move now-

KP for Lamarcus Aldridge.

There you go again, pretty sure I was a fan before you were born. There is no "if" , there is only Phil's record which is the worst in franchise history. What part of that are you missing? What part of that makes you think that you can question the fandom of anyone who wants a change? Its like talking to a fucking Moonie.

You are delusional. Jackson FAILED entirely to build a culture of professionalism. He undermined the coach, he rarely went on road trips, he fell out with our highly paid long term star player, he fell out with the best young player in 30 years, he did not discipline Rose appropriately when he went awol, he allowed his friends in the press to do his bidding for him etc etc. For all his accomplishments as a coach he was a disastrous President, an unmitigated nightmare. The Knicks are a laughing stock and he has overseen the entire shambles. I hope he never darkens the Garden again with his presence.

For the record I'm no Melo defender. He's been a huge letdown for too long now.

That's still better than the Kp for Booker and Jackson deal or the using KP to get Noah off the books. Luckily Phx were dumber than Phil this time.

There was zero indication Phil was actually going to make a trade.
All he did was take calls.
I don't know what KP has done to earn a NTC, but it seems the same fans who jeered when he got drafted now see him as an untouchable.
You skip a meeting, you make a power play to get a 11 time champion fired, you get cheered.
We're setting a tone for all future KP situations. He's not even all-star yet. He's a good player right now on his way to becoming a very good player. Lord forbid he becomes a real star, he will literally think he can run the team.

You can not let the players run the asylum.

That said, I am totally bracing myself for young players like KP/Willy/Nti to be sent off for a big name. That has been the Knicks way. We established some good young players here and were heading in the right direction. I just hope whomever comes in won't change that path. If we're going to try and compete with Cleveland, Boston or Golden State, we're idiots.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 6/28/2017 7:58 AM
The team was finally coming along. ALL THAT is needed now is to rid themselves of Melo. That's all.

Picks, Cap space, good young player core. Phil did exactly what you are supposed to do to rebuild a franchise!

Melo plays for himself. This is an all time STUPID move.

Another notch in Melos power struggle belt. Just make fucking melo the president because it's clear he's the one running this team.
